LSU Tigers (official thread)

The only reason why we got Fields is because the transfer stars aligned just right...it wasn't because of our recruiting. Same with LSU getting Burrow.

This cuts a few ways.
Without portal, Burrow likely stays, we get the QB that flipped to Georgia, and probably hold onto Baldwin at least.
It's a very different QB room... deeper, for sure.
But i think Jag is right. Portal is a new part of recruiting... and will figure heavily for QBs.

There's something to be said for being developed by Day, Wilson, and Yurcich. You can come to Ohio State for 1-2 years... if it doesnt pan out, you'll still be setup with the skills to start anywhere else in P5.
Like QB Camp for the country.
Will certainly learn more than going to scUM, scUM South, ND, Texas, or a number of other places proven incapable of developing QBs.

You sound exactly like a scUM fan back in 2011 when they finally beat us after a seven-game losing streak (sound familiar?), after which we prompted ran off an eight-game (and counting) winning streak. So my advise is go ahead and enjoy the moment but don't count your chickens be fore the eggs are hatched...
Here's a slight difference.
LSU is headed to the playoffs with you guys. Yes, Bama has had a run on us lately, but in the fairly recent past, we had a similar run on them, during which we went to, and won, two BCS NCGs. They finally beat us in 2008 and 2009, then we beat them in 2010 and 2011, then they started their now expired run on us. I don't believe that's all that similar to your scUM fan reference.

Another poster earlier said we'd head "back to mediocrity" after Joe leaves. I decided to do some fact checking.

I thought my memory served me fairly well, and it in fact did. Since 2000:

LSU has two National Championships and lost a National Championship game as well. You guys have two National Championships and lost two National Championships as well. Not sure why it's assumed we would go "back to mediocrity". We haven't been mediocre in 20 years.

Granted, we don't have a history as deep as OSU, or for that matter, Michigan, Alabama, Oklahoma, etc....
But we aren't fucking Ole Miss here lol. We've been quite relevant for quite some time. Nothing near mediocre.

I think we aren't all that different really. We both hate Alabama, and while you guys have the rivalry with Michigan with it's deep history, we have a chump cult program we get to beat the shit out of on a regular basis in TAMU. I am jealous we don't have a traditional rival like that though.

Also, since someone mentioned LSU being #2 in recruiting, that will change Wednesday. Book that.

Regardless, if the planets align and the football gods allow, we'll see y'all in New Orleans in a little over a month. Mediocre teams will be sitting at home watching.

You were pointing out your win over Bama, along with their "decline" in recruiting, as a sign that you would magically start winning against them. I was pointing out that those factors alone are not signs that you will. As for someone saying that would "go back to mediocrity", I'm not agreeing with him...the only season within the last decade I'd consider close to "mediocre" is your 2014 when you were 8-5.
