LSU Tigers (official thread)

Several years ago this guy was a "hot commodity" (i.e. young up and coming coach that was a great recruiter too); however, he had a problem* as head coach at Eastern Michigan in 2013 and (kind of) had to start over again. After being fired at Eastern Michigan he has worked his way back up to co-DC/DB

* see his employment history at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_English_(American_football)

Ron English: Louisville Co-DC/DBs

English helped lead a defense that led the country in red zone scoring rate while also ranking top 15 on third downs. The Cards defense had the right call when it mattered the most in 2023.

Overall, it was a unit that sat top 50 in points/game, yards/game, and yards/play.

He’s a defensive backs coach, too, with SEC experience at Mississippi State and Florida under Dan Mullen.

English is 55 and a veteran coach. As Michigan’s DC in 2006 and 2007, he built top 20 units in back-to-back years. He could be the steady hand LSU needs right now.

Just sayin': Regardless of the issue at Eastern Michigan; he might really be a good candidate for the LSU DC position.

LSU makes ex-Mizzou DC Blake Baker highest-paid assistant coach

Brian Kelly and LSU named Missouri's Blake Baker as their new defensive coordinator Friday.

The three-year deal, expected to pay Baker $2.5 million per year, will make him the highest-paid assistant in college football, a source told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

LSU lands No. 1 recruit in 2025 class, QB Bryce Underwood

LSU received a commitment from the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class Saturday when quarterback Bryce Underwood announced his decision to play for the Tigers.

Underwood chose LSU over a final group of Alabama and Michigan, giving coach Brian Kelly the best prospect and top quarterback in the cycle.

A 6-foot-4, 205-pound recruit from Belleville, Michigan, Underwood had offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan and most other major programs. However, it was LSU that won out.

.
"The development for me as a quarterback to prepare myself for the NFL is what mattered for me," Underwood said. "Also, having a relatable offense that I'm getting into is a big thing as well."

Just sayin': Michigan kid wants prepared to be a QB in the NFL chooses LSU; obviously he never got the message that Harbaugh was a "QB whisperer/guru".....
