LSU football: Brian Kelly shoulders blame after Florida State loss

"We didn’t go through camp and go, we are who we are and we have all these holes,” Kelly said. “We didn’t expect a lot of the mistakes that we saw out there today, but as coaches we have to be critical of ourselves and look at our evaluation and say we’re part of this as well and we’ve got to do a better job coaching.”

"They out-played us in the first half, certainly mistake after mistake for us, in particular in the first half and obviously more mistakes in the second half. We started to overcome some of those and played with I would consider more of a sense of urgency the last 12 minutes, but our margin for error was so small that we couldn’t make anymore mistakes. I was proud of our resolve, we battled, but we just have to learn how to play the game the right way and that’s for four quarters. We didn’t tackle very well. We couldn’t get off the field on third down.

"We didn’t execute very well offensively. We had two turnovers in our punt return game that we thought would be an asset for us and we had a blocked field goal and a blocked extra point. What we did well is we battled. What we obviously need to do better is play with a sense of urgency for four quarters, which we did not. What we learned is we’ve got to coach better. We’ve got to have our kids coached in a manner where they’re ready. I’m accountable for that. We have to have them tackling better, executing better in all phases."
.
.
.
"Again, I’m not here … we’re not happy with the outcome. We have to play better and coach better. I’m proud of the way our guys competed and there’s going to be good days for this football. But they’ve got to recognize and our coaches have got to recognize we’ve got to put them in good position. When we played with a sense of urgency, the offense improved."

From SI:
When Kelly took the LSU job, he praised the university’s commitment to “having the resources” available to win. One of the reasons why Kelly left ND was because he believed that the university was lagging behind on resources for the football program.

Bowen made sure to take a nice shot across the bow at Kelly and LSU, while expressing his excitement for playing for new Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman.

“Can’t wait to get to ND where we have the resources to win. #FreemanEra,” Bowen tweeted.

Couldn't happen to bigger asshole. Man deserves all the crap he catches.

that's a comical headline for that first paragraph.

we didn't think our players were this flawed and that was stupid is not shouldering the blame.
