LSU Tigers (official thread)

He did kick the shite out of Jimbo's nephew, if I remember correctly.
So for that, he's an absolute legend everywhere outside of Aggyland.

he’s one of the most important recruits in LSU history.
then had a stellar 4 year career here.

He was the first big name guy in a long time to stay home and play for LSU.
Guys before him all seemed to end up elsewhere (like Warrick Dunn at Free Shoes U).

First Moffit, then Raymond, and now Boutte getting the Boot?
Is Bayou Brian trimming the fat from the program?

Could Alabama snag another LSU transfer in WR Kayshon Boutte
https://rolltidewire.usatoday.com/2...ag-another-lsu-transfer-in-wr-kayshon-boutte/

The early signing day on Wednesday delivered plenty of drama around the country. For Alabama is was pretty much just the status quo in regards to high school prospects.

Currently, Alabama sits with the second-ranked class in the country according to On3.

After the storm of signatures had finally settled in Tuscaloosa, that is when the real drama began to unfold. Former LSU All-American cornerback Eli Ricks revealed that he was transferring to Alabama and social media began to explode.

The big news is that Alabama may not be done with LSU yet.

Rumors have been swirling around that LSU star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte could also enter the portal and Alabama would be considered the favorite.

Boutte has a series of “likes” on Twitter that would suggest he is keeping a close eye on some things in Tuscaloosa.

If Nick Saban and the rest of the staff in Tuscaloosa can pull off another grab of a coveted LSU transfer, the rest of college football may lose its mind.

This is definitely something Alabama fans should be monitoring closely over the next few days.

Stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for all the latest on the Crimson Tide!

Moffit needed to go. I know that wasn’t a popular opinion, but it’s one i’ve spoken for a few seasons now. We wear down late in games. Get pushed around more often than the other way around, etc. And that’s been happening since latter stages of Miles era. So it was time for a change on this one.

Raymond? Can’t say i’m happy he’s gone. I remember him as a player, he’s turned down other big money gigs to stay in the past, he’s a part of the DBU legacy (as both player and coach). But if you look at it objectively, our secondary play has tailed off more and more each year he’s been here. The replacement will determine how good of a move this was.

Todd Monken Turns Down LSU Opening
Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken has reportedly turned down an opportunity to join the LSU coaching staff under Brian Kelly.
BROOKS AUSTIN
https://www.si.com/college/georgia/news/todd-monken-lsu-football-opening-georgia-football
Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken is one of the most highly coveted and respected offensive minds in all of college and professional football.

If you don't believe it, look at not only his track record of previous jobs from being a head coach worthy of winning 11 games, to being on multiple NFL staffs, to now being at Georgia as one of the highest-paid assistants in the sport.

Monken is often sought after for job openings, job openings like the one at LSU under Brian Kelly. Kelly was in search of a new offensive coordinator with the LSU Tigers and one of his first phone calls, according to FootballScoop reports, was to Todd Monken.

Multiple sources likewise told FootballScoop that Kelly had discussed the offensive coordinator position with Georgia play-caller Todd Monken, though sources said Monken has expressed a desire to remain with the Bulldogs.

This is tremendous news if you're a Georgia fan learning of this. At least you now know that Todd Monken doesn't appear interested in lateral moves. If he were to leave the University of Georgia, it appears it will be for promotion not a change of scenery.

Georgia still will likely have to survive the NFL coaching carousel as well. Todd Monken has been at the coordinator level for nearly 20 years now, and he's never been at one place for longer than three seasons. Based on his career history, it's not a matter of if Monken is going to leave your program, it's a matter of when and to where.

Does anybody actually want to work for kiLLa keLLy?

"When they came here, those guys did things I had never seen," Orgeron said Saturday during an appearance on NFL Countdown when asked about the Burrow-Chase connection. "It was a Saturday morning and we had a recruiting weekend, and my recruiting person asked me if I could maybe bring the recruits to watch the team practice. I said, 'we don't have a practice.' They said 'Oh yeah coach, the whole team is practicing on Saturday morning by themselves.' They worked together — in the summer before the championship game, Mickey Jospeh — who did a great job of recruiting Ja'Marr Chase — had those guys catch each 10,000 balls ... they had to each catch 10,000 balls in the summer with Joe (Burrow). I think that's where they got the connection."

"During his recruiting visit, he didn't want to do anything but talk football and eat crawfish," Orgeron recalled. "I told him we could do that. We had a football meeting on a Saturday, and there were six of us in the meeting. And it took me five minutes to figure out that Joe Burrow was the smartest guy in the meeting. That was including me and all my coaches. But you know what? His confidence level increased as he became a player at LSU. We beat Georgia (in 2018), and it became his team.

"But here's where I think the turnaround happened: We played in the Fiesta Bowl — a big New Year's Day bowl — against UCF and they had won a bunch of games in a row. Joe Burrow got hit — it was a blindside hit — and I called timeout. I wanted a targeting penalty and I said 'hey get the second-string quarterback, Myles Brennan, ready.' And Joe gets up and says a couple of words that I am not going to say on television. And he said that ain't happening. We went down to score the next three series. That became his football team. That gave his team confidence in his ability to lead the team."

"And then in the spring, Joe had an operation on his shoulder," Orgeron continued. "Not many people were at practice. We were practicing in the spring. And I told everybody, and I had quick whistle, 'nobody hits Joe.' Well then our linebacker blitz came late and hit Joe and knocked him down. He came off. And then the next play I didn't want anyone fighting. This was at Tiger Stadium on a Saturday morning. We had a big fight. I go the bottom of the pile and it's Joe Burrow."
