I'm sure Ricks has his own thread, but the search doesn't seem to be working for me.
As the LSU coaching search rages on, College GameDay host Rece Davis said this week on an ESPN podcast he believes Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien will be the selection to replace Ed Orgeron. Davis, an Alabama graduate, is closely-tied to the interworkings of the Crimson Tide and knows O'Brien is not necessarily LSU's top choice on its list.
"I think Bill O'Brien is going to be the next coach at LSU," Davis said.
"Oh my God, okay," cohost David Pollack said.
Davis quickly responded, "It's not the first choice. The first choice is (Texas A&M head coach) Jimbo Fisher."
Pollack tossed former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda's name in the ring, given what he's done in short order at Baylor following Matt Rhule's departure to the Carolina Panthers. Baylor can reach the Big 12 Championship this season if the Bears win next week against Texas Tech and Oklahoma falls at Oklahoma State.
"There is no way in Sam you-know-what homeboy that you're hiring Bill O'Brien, unless you've heard that from somebody, somewhere," Pollack said to Davis. "Because there ain't no way you're going — of all the guys I can have, I'll take Bill O'Brien."
O'Brien helped the Crimson Tide establish the nation's eighth-best passing offense this season at 344.1 yards per game, largely due to quarterback Bryce Young's emergence as the Heisman frontrunner through Week 12. O'Brien had the difficult task of leading Penn State in the immediate wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal in 2012 and managed to go 15-9 before the NFL came calling. A job on Alabama’s staff usually leads to bigger gigs, evidenced by last season's play-caller — Steve Sarkisian — moving on to Texas, among others.
Half a dozen staffers went elsewhere after Alabama's undefeated 2020 season and run to a national championship.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity that coach Saban has given me,” O’Brien said before the opener. “To work and learn from someone like coach Saban — I’m going into my 29th year of coaching — that’s not something that can be replicated. So I am really excited for the opportunity. I’ve only been here for seven months, and I have already learned a ton.”
Other coaches mentioned in LSU's expansive search include Cincinnati's Luke Fickell, Penn State's James Franklin, Lane Kiffin from Ole Miss and Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, among other high-profile options.
From Ed O to Bill O

Would be a HOME RUN hire.
I can assure you Rece Davis doesn't know shit.
So Bill O also turned down the LLLLLL5U job?
can't turn down something that hasn't been offered.
Bank on it.
You're getting a coach with the first name "Bill".
Either Bill O Brien, Bill Napier, or Bill Clark (UAB).
You heard it here 1st.
note:
me and Gator did it with the highest of stakes (a Natty) on the line.
To be fair, we were likely passed out during much of it.
