Am I missing something or is there no Arizona State listing? Or USC? Or any other Pac-12 team save Arizona (the defending champs, I think).

Good Lord! At least we have cold weather for an excuse (and still have as many teams in the top 25 in attendance as the Pac-12)

the west is typically a terrible sports towns when it comes to fan support in general.
USC specifically averaged less than 900 fans per home game.

and in fact, LSU sold more tickets for opening weekend (33,813) alone than USC did for the entire season (27,638).

and now Texas is coming after Mainieri.

they have enough money to pull this off too.
because while LSU athletics is extremely profitable (and completely separated financially from rest of university), the state and school are in financial dire straits and have been unwilling to spend any money on anything the last 8 months - year.

i have less than zero faith in our Athletic Director or the University President to ever make the right decision about anything. So i'm rather confident that if Texas is even remotely serious about this that LSU will fuck it up royally.

buckle up LSU baseball fans. this ride could get bumpy real soon.

recently? yes.
historically? it's pretty close, with a slight edge in Texas' favor.

they've got 6 titles (most recent 2005), same as LSU (most recent 2009, against Texas).
they've also finished 2nd 6 times, LSU never has.

their success has been spread out over 60+ years where as we really took off in mid/late 80s.

am I just high on them because of a random ass LSU thread on a Buckeye website

I pay zero attention to college baseball (don't ask why I am in this thread, just perusing.) However, if Texas wanted this guy, and LSU is keeping him, then that's alright with me.
