exactly.
i called this one from my living room.

miles told jasper something on the sideline, then jasper went and yelled it in the holder's ear.

even told my wife "way to give away the fake"
They showed Les on the sideline mouthing "go for the win" before they took the field after the timeout.

Florida board is all about how you cannot advance a fumble on 4th down unless you are the guy who fumbled it. Who knows.

In the morning Nutria will see this one comment I may have overlooked: LSU played better than Florida did the whole game, and deserved it more than we did.

They're grasping at straws - a lateral that bounces is still a lateral, not a fumble.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a great trick play on a backward 15-yards bounce to the side lateral that set up a long pass down the field (don't remember who did it, it wasn't a BCS team). The bounce really fakes out the defense and gets them to bite if the throwback can be executed correctly.

I'd say they are snorting through straws.... I'm not convinced that a lateral that hits the ground is not a fumble...I just don't care, because they won the game no matter what the rule says, went the distance for a last second TD, and we did not get it done.

Proud that we did not give up when LSU went up 26-14. LSU was the better team tonight...er....yesterday

Ivan Maisel said on this week's USPNU College Football Podcast that Les Miles reminds him of Inspector Clouseau of Pink Panther fame - does all the wrong things to get to the right outcome.

good point, never thought of that angle.

but that ain't the one y'all should be bitchin about.

remember when y'all kicker missed that fg (twice).
the penalty was called as holding on lsu.

i thought defensive holding resulted in an automatic 1st down.

none of the coaches, refs, or announcers said anything about it, so maybe the rule is different on a fg attempt.

we played well minus a few big plays.
we gotta eliminate turnovers.

Peterson's fumble hurt, probably more so than jj's pick.

we expect our qbs to fuck up, but Peterson is a god and doesn't do those things.

Now don't get Gator all riled up.

Page 242 of the NCAA.rules

While attempting to reach the kicker, if a defensive player pulls an offensive lineman by the shoulders; it's legal if he lets go on his way by. If he continues to hold the offensive player, it's a 10-yard penalty but NOT an automatic 1st down.

So the ruling by the referees was correct. The announcers should have explained that, but they either didn't think about it or weren't sure why and didn't want to sound dumb by talking about it.
