LSU -1.5 v. Oregon in Texas (ov/un 54.5) Sat 8 ET, ABC

LSU was my NC pick before the season... and when Jefferson got suspended, I felt like I'd made a mistake.

But they balled out last night. Lee looked better than the stats showed, and the defense played great. Proved me right all along

Good win for Les last night. One of his best coaching performances, and it wasn't based largely on good fortune like many of his signature wins.

All of the distractions, no starting QB or WR, facing the hurry-up Oregon offense, and he had that team ready to play.

I think I'll be voting LSU #1 this week. My poll is extremely fluid the first few weeks of the season.

Eh LSU seems to always lose to a team or two who they shouldn't to. I hope it holds true this year while LSU beats all the ranked teams. :sneaky:

i would absolutely love to see what we could do with a good QB.

i'm not even asking for Heisman quality superstar.
Just someone who is a little better than average.

What I want to know is where do they find some of these guys? They have freshmen and sophmores that look like they've been pumping iron in prison for the last 10 years.

LSU looked good last night, but let's remember that they were playing a team that has shown time and again that it is not ready for the big stage in college football. The next time Oregon wins a big out of conference game will be the first.

I think that oregon is still getting run from that great performance that they put on in the 2nd half of the Holiday Bowl about 3 years back. Anyone who remembers that game can't deny that what Masoli, Blount and the others did that game was unbelievable. The problem is that there hasn't been a repeat performance in a game that has mattered. They light up who you expect them to light up and get beat down by the big boys.

Actually I've been impressed with Oregon's defense in big games. I always expect them to get run over but they've held up great against tOSU, Auburn and LSU (14 of those points were absolutely not the D's fault). It's their "explosive" offense that's let them down in each of those games.
