Lowe's or Home Depot?

My biggest problem w/ Home Depot is the rude idiots who work in certain departments, i.e. flooring, etc.

I've bought a few Rigid power tool there and love them.

For lawn/garden tools I shop at Ace. It's much closer and they've got good quality stuff.

Might be time to tell your people, "No more gift cards from Home Depot."

Just a thought.

My father in Law gets them for free for using his American Express Card to pay his business's bills. He gets like $2500 a month in gift cards.

You think when you go to those places like the old True Value stores that you will get an expert but usually it's some woman who's a HS dropout or a retired schoolteacher who doesn't know the difference between a wrench and a screwdriver.

FKA's experience along with my own recent experiences with Home Depot have caused me to want to vent.

1) I bought my mower there, and the engine block actually cracked wide open and died 3 weeks ago. Had the mower 2.5 years.

2) Bought a chainsaw there and had to return to the store 3 times in one night because certain parts were missing.

3) Bought a lawn edger the other day b/c I had a gift card and it was bent within 10 minutes of using it.

Returned it and went to Lowe's and bought a better made one.

Home Depot is on my shit list.
Frankly, I wouldn't buy any power tools at either place. I know a lot of people knock the Craftsman brand because Sears isn't what it used to be (what place is?) but damn if they don't honor their warranties and take their broken shit back without having to jump through hoops. Mowers, trimmers, power tools ... my wife and I have spent thousands at Sears over the past four years and I don't have any complaints. The only things I've purchased from there that have broken have all been 100% my fault, but if it says Craftsman on it, they'll exchange it.

The Craftsman drill I had, the battery needed replaced, and found out they no longer made that battery so I had to throw the drill away.

My weedeater is a Craftsman and it takes about 20 pulls to start.

Heard good things about their mowers and of course, their tools.
