Lower Level College Football (fcs, D3, ACC, etc.)

Two or three weeks ago I posted something, somewhere, about the results of FBS vs FCS games. I can't find it, so I'm doing the update here because this seems like as good a place as any.

With 10 matchups left to go, the FBS is 106-5 against the FCS this year

The FBS has as many victories with a margin of 70 points or more as they have losses

The biggest margin of victory for a FCS team is still just 6 points.
All five FCS victories put together have a margin of just 17 points.
The five biggest FBS wins have a collective margin of 367 points.
The game with the biggest margin (77 point victory by FBS juggernaut South Alabama over NW State) was ended 6 minutes early by mutual consent.

Average Score of these "games"
FBS 43.4
FCS 12.4

After computers got involved in recruiting (yes, even before the internet), there has been a growing gap between the divisions in spite of the fact that FBS has gotten ridiculously bloated and bottom heavy. It is too easy now for the teams with more scholarships to find the best kids regardless of where they are, and much too hard for the smaller teams to find a diamond-in-the-rough. There hasn't been a Walter Payton or Jerry Rice at the FCS level since... Walter Payton and Jerry Rice.

It is past time that these games be banned.

Sadly with conference re alignment I predict teams will attempt to schedule more of these games and blame “an increasingly tough in conference schedule” To justify it.

How did I miss that thread title?

Also, @Thump is this good?

I spent some time with their OC a few years back at the national wing T conference in Pittsburgh. Great guys, they showed me how they do everything in their offense, more giving than any coaches I've ever worked with.

They are easily my second favorite college football team.

Northwestern State football is in a really bad spot right now
they didn't even play a full season last year. One of their players was murdered by his room mate.
don't remember details, but the coach resigned afterwards, there are lawsuits, etc.
they're getting thumped by almost everyone they play this year.

i don’t remember the details, but sounds like some other shit was involved.

kid was forced to move out of one apartment and into another.
dude’s new roommate wasn’t a part of the team.
allegedly threatened him previously.
team said they would handle it and he had nothing to worry about.

then dude gets shot by roommate. another team member gets arrested in connection.
coach ended up resigning, they cancelled 2nd half of ‘23 season.

whole situation sounds all fucked up.
