Get off my lawn, you hooligans!
I was in the lab last night, and got to thinking--despite certain aspects of it, I really do enjoy my work. The hours suck, the pay sucks, and it can be extremely frustrating, but that's all offset by the teaching (my undergrads are great) and the challenge (it's kinda neat to be doing something no one's done before--and you get a real feeling of accomplishment when things are working). Besides, it's kinda fun to argue with people, and that's part of the job description, too.

I guess it just got me to wondering how others on the Planet feel about their work... I mean we all know tibor enjoys jamming his arm up other men's asses (sick fucker), but how 'bout everyone else?

I enjoy my job. I have a very good boss and assistant, and most of my supporting staff is good. We have the pains in the ass most people do, but trying to fire someone from government work is difficult to say the least, especially when no one ever wants to terminate someone no matter the reasons. The hours are fine, benefits are great, and the stability is nice.

The best parts are helping citizens, either directly or indirectly. The worst parts are when people expect you to do something just because they want it done, regardless of whether it is ethically or legally permissable.

The truly toughest part is trying to change an organization that says it wants to change but truly does not. We are suffering through that right now.

All in all, I do enjoy my job, however, I do look for bigger challenges and may someday make the jump to the private sector.

For the first time in a long time, I can truly say I enjoy my job. It has been about 10 months at the new gig and it is going great. I work more than I used to, but the company is awesome and I get a real joy out of what I do.

In my old job, I had a boss with no morals or ethics. It is refreshing to work for a company who believes in doing what is right, even if it means taking a short term financial loss on a job. They understand that the long term reputation and growth of the firm is based on how we are perceived in the market place. They empower the employees at all levels to make decisions. We use the Servant Leadership philosophy as our guiding principle.

When you think of how much time you spend on the job, it is important to have a place that you enjoy getting out of bed to go to work at.

I really enjoy my job 99% of the time. Sure, the kids might be knuckleheads occasionally, but, all in all, I enjoy my work a lot. Plus, I have a 10 week paid vacation starting last Friday-can't beat that.
