The first high school prospect to commit to the University of Louisville's class of '07 appears to no longer be headed for a future with the Cardinals.

6-foot-5, 300-pound Brad Durham of Rockcastle County (Ky.) High School, a Scout.com three-star prospect who pledged to Louisville on August 10, told InsideTheVille.com on Sunday night that his recruiting process is open once again.

"I'm going to re-open my recruitment process," said Durham. "(Louisville) called me this weekend and said that they didn't want me."

Durham, who was informed of the decision by U of L assistant Greg Nord, explained that the Cardinal coaching staff didn't feel that he was what they were searching for after watching recent game film.

"They said that they watched some game film on me and didn't like it, so they wanted to take away my scholarship," explained Durham.

You wish the school could respond, because there has to be more to it than "we looked at your film, and we don't want you anymore." If that were true, it would be despicable on the 'Ville's part. So despicable that I don't believe we're hearing the whole story.

Didn't something like this happen to OSU a few years ago where a kid said he was a verbal when he actually wasn't? If the kid did get screwed over I feel bad for him, but if he had an offer from Louisville he will have other offers. Now if he did have an offer and decided to be lazy this season and the offer was pulled I'm not going to feel too bad for him. Colleges want guys who are going to work hard all the time.

Dajuan Morgan has verbaled, but when the staff found out that he wasnt in the top half of his class the offer was pulled.

This was actually in benefit for the kid since we knew he wasnt going to make it in.

Same thing with Chichester last year.

Some of the scuttlebutt on the Cards message boards stated that some other more highly regarded players may be trying to leverage package deals. We may never know the whole story, but my opinion is that if the kid does what is needed in the classroom, the school should be honorable enough to honor the scholarship offer.

I'll be in the minority that doesn't have a problem with Louisville doing this. A kid can back out of a verbal up until signing day, shouldn't a team have the same privilege?

No. We should hold professional adults (the coaches and AD) to a higher standard than a HS kid. Besides, the kid is making the bigger commitment than the school. The school is really only making a 1-year commitment.
