Lou Holtz (Official Thread)

Holtz is a biased Ohio boy who would really love to see the glory days of Notre Dame return so that he can bask in the reflected glory in his retirement.

Those receivers are tall. Brady Quinn is a good quarterback. He will put our secondary under pressure.

But, in the end, the fact remains that Brady has never seen a defense like this. And, with all due respect to methomps, I'd take the Buckeyes against anyone right now.

This is about recruiting and Mr Tressel has plenty of incentive to make a point here. I hate smack talk but this is just my objective opinion.

I agree and I still think we'll have our way with their "underrated" line with ours

I wouldn't take the Buckeyes against USC or Texas. But that's just me. USC's offense is the best offense in college football history in my opinion...and their defense isn't horrible, it's just not a GREAT one...but it gets the job done. We wouldn't be able to slow them down enough...we'd need a lot of breaks to go our way. We could hang with them...but i wouldn't favor us.

And then Texas...their defense is quite good, and their ground game is amazing. We got turnover after turnover against them AT OUR PLACE, and still couldn't seal the deal. I think Texas' ability to run the football makes them tough to beat, especially with the defense they have. I think the reason they beat USC is because they control the clock, and the tempo of the game.

I'm not saying we couldn't beat USC or Texas...I think we could...I just wouldn't say the odds would be on our side. I do however, think we'd likely take it to Penn State or anybody else in the country in a bowl game. Everything had to allign just right for Penn State to beat us...no turnovers, home field, homer refs. And it did. It wouldn't happen again.

Texas and USC are both special teams this year. I love the Buckeyes...but my unbiased opinion would say we'd likely lose to USC or Texas in a bowl game.

We obviously though are a lot better than Notre Dame. Notre Dame would have to get ALL the breaks to win this one. Michigan was a tougher game.

You have good points but...With Our Offense playing the way it has been playing, I think we can beat Texas. We do need to be at full strength against them (Carp).

USC's D is not that good. But their Offense is Great. It would be a great game. May be similar to 02 title game?

back to Hotlz.... good thing he retired...he can't evaluate teams anymore.

they aren't even the best offense in 2005 college football (Texas scores more points), let alone of all time. Texas' best players are off of the field by the 3rd quarter in most games... whereas SC had to come back in many games.

I think SC's offense is incredible, but the 'best ever' hype is the same type of rating-generating propaganda that ABC/ESPN told us about Miami (and OU as well).

umm... just a point of order, but USC doesn't even have the best offense THIS YEAR, so i'm not really sure how they can have the best offense in history... Texas averages 51 PPG; the Trojans average 50 PPG...

FWIW, the 1995 Nebraska CornHuskers averaged 55 PPG, and allowed only 8 PPG, and beat FOUR top Ten teams, so you can go ahead and lay to rest all that 'best team in history' crap concerning USC...

So does that mean that Colt Brennan is the best QB in the nation then?

EDIT: USC's offense has rolled up 587.8 YPG good for first in the nation, while Texas is third at 516.9.
