Buckeyedynasty has a video camera...

Yes but it's in er....um....use. I'll be done with it by the time she gets here though.

I lost my best friend last night. Kalvin was a 6-week old Chocolate Lab puppy when I got him after my freshman year at OSU, and I had to have him euthanized at the OSU Vet hospital last night at 11 years old. He was so young at heart--never ever wanted to stop chasing that ball--and had the most perfectly brown coat I've ever seen, never had a single gray hair in his life, but diabetes had weakened him and cancer came on so fast in the last few weeks. He was so helpless at the end that I have no doubt it was the right thing to do and the right time to do it, but I just didn't expect to miss him so damn much today.

(:tibor:
I'm sure I'll earn a ding from the played-out troll Tibor for this, but I know most of you are actual humans and can understand the pain of losing a loved one.)

Sorry to hear about Kalvin. Labs are great companions and I'm sure he'll be missed.

We had to put down our second dog last night. Mina was 10 years old, had her since my senior year at OSU. We got a 6-month prognosis for bone cancer in her leg about 3 months ago, but of course she went chasing after something in the yard yesterday and the cancer-weakened bone just snapped, so there was no other option at that point. Once again, though, OSU Vet hospital made the process easier and kept her very comfortable at the end. So now the only dog my 1-year-old daughter will know is our crazy one-eyed Boston terrier, who is definitely no representative of great old dogs like Kalvin and Mina.
