Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

I wish I had a logo like yours by my donor sign.

My life's goal.

Lakers 5-0.. expected. In fact, if this team isn't playing Boston for the title, it's a lost season. Bring in a new offensive coordinator, and probably also a new defensive coordinator too, just to make sure we are cleaned all the way out. Embarassing. I can't believe we only beat Houston by 29. Everyone knows their schedule is weak.

Is this still the CFB forum?

LAKERS: Lakers Gameday | 11/11/08 | Lakers 106, Mavericks 99

Kobe, Lakers beat Mavs, improve to 6-0

DALLAS (AP) -- Trevor Ariza turned an offensive rebound into an emphatic, go-ahead dunk early in the fourth quarter and Kobe Bryant quickly stretched the lead, sending the Los Angeles Lakers to a 106-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.
Ariza's basket put Los Angeles up for the first time since the opening minutes, then Bryant began stretching the lead with a one-handed rebound-dunk on the next possession. Soon after, he scored seven straight points and the Lakers held off the Mavericks down the stretch to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 2001-02, their last championship season.

Then here came New Orleans...:tongue2:... but too little too late.

LAKERS: Lakers Gameday | 11/12/08 | Lakers 93, Hornets 86

Fisher, Bryant lead Lakers past Hornets

NEW ORLEANS(AP) The Hornets were primed to pull off an improbable comeback until Kobe Bryant made it impossible.
Bryant scored 20 points, highlighted by a tough 3-pointer over James Posey with just over a minute left, and the Los Angeles Lakers improved to 7-0 with a 93-86 victory over New Orleans on Wednesday night.
"I just wanted to shoot it in his face,'' Bryant said of the late 3-pointer. "I knew I was due.''
The dramatic and deflating shot stemmed a frantic 17-4 Hornets run and put the Lakers ahead 86-80 with 1:08 to go.
"I knew Posey was going to sit on my arm, so I just had to back him up and try to shoot it,'' Bryant explained. "I knew it was going to be a tough shot because I had Posey draped all over me, so I just needed to focus on the basket and try to put it in.''
Derek Fisher hit four 3-pointers and also finished with 20. He had 18 through the first three quarters, leading what to that point had been a dominant effort by Los Angeles, which never trailed.
The Lakers led by as much as 23 before nervously holding on against a team that is expected to be one of their chief rivals for Western Conference supremacy.

Pistons at Lakers right now on ESPiN.

Detroit opened up on fire, hitting their first 6 shots from the field for a 12-2 lead. However, Kobe has responded with all kinds of nasty and the Lakers have run off 12 straight to get the lead.

Should be a great game. Iverson puts the 'Stons back up there with Boston, just above the Cavs come playoff time, IMO.

The Lakers aren't playing well right now, they are behind at the end of the first quarter... sadly, it feels like the old Lakers teams, they just play with teams then come back, only defending when they fall into a serious hole :(

Pistons on an 11-2 run since my post.... i feel like you from the other night.

I think the depth that the Lakers have will cause slow starts some nights, as the "on" players for a given game may be in the 2nd lineup. Also, Detroit will tire sooner, especially having played last night.

28-18 Pistons.

Well, at this point, I am going to say that the Eastern Conference defense is better than the western conference best. No change from last year, I expect the Lakers to go on a run, but right now Bynum and Gasol are getting eaten by Kwame, same old Lakers.

Damn, don't jump off the ledge yet. :tongue2: Still 70+ games left in the season.

Trust me, I am a huge Lakers fan, but there's certain games I look and can evaluate the difference from this year and last, Spurs, Celtics, Pistons, and Cavs are the 4 teams I look at right now. The got swept by the Celtics, Pistons and Cavs last year, so I expect to see a different playstyle, but I don't see it this year. The Lakers are trying for dumb shots, they got defensive pressure and started making stupid shots. The Spurs will let me know if they can win the West, but unless this team makes a drastic change before Christmas, they are still soft.

Yeh, I hate to say it, but unless they actually show me a difference on Christmas day, I am still of the opinion they are a soft team. The issue is when they get real defensive pressure, they fold, it's the same as the last three years, they just have better scorers. Now, this doesn't mean they can't change, but Phil needs to change his philosophy. We have won the first 7 games by being bigger, but tonight, someone went small and just started shooting.

The reality is this: The Lakers need to learn to be physical without fouling, when they try to be physical, they foul.

Tonight, we saw a team coming off a back-to-back, with a huge change in their players, and yet, the team came out and "expected' to win.

Now, I am going to be realistic, watch and see what happens when they play the Celtics, but right now, can you honestly tell me you see a big enough difference from last year that would make you say "These guys will win it all?"
