The Chargers have hired former All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman as the team's linebackers coach, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday.
Bowman played under new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh for four seasons when he coached the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. Bowman was an All-Pro in each season with Harbaugh.
The NFL on Monday suspended Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. for one game without pay, citing "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers."

The NFL on Monday suspended Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James Jr. for one game without pay, citing "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers."
NFL VP of Football Ops Jon Runyan wrote in his letter to James: "Your continued disregard for NFL playing rules will not be tolerated."
