Look Who's Transferring Now (The Basketball Portal)

Looks like OSU has missed out on both of their original top portal targets. Rob Wright has chosen to return to BYU and Jalen Haralson has committed to Tennessee.

Not to seem like sour grapes but I think Haralson is a bit overrated, he's a decent player but he has some major flaws (especially when it comes to shooting) I think some in this fan base were gassing him up a little much.

It would have been great to land Haralson IMO, but at this point I'm just hoping for a team with legitimate quality depth this season. No college player is flawless, but Haralson has tantalizing talent - obviously his jumpshot is a huge question-mark but he still managed 16 ppg without one & the other thing that makes me question Haralson is why he only averaged playing 26 minutes when he was by far the leading scorer on a terrible ND team. Makes me think if he's by far the most talented guy on the team but still not playing over 30 minutes, there must be some other flaw to his game.

The Buckeyes seem to have the frontcourt in OK shape, now need 2-3 guys to play the 1-3 positions that are better than 1-4 ppg scorers.

I'm hoping for Jimmie Williams and a PG type that's at least somewhat better than Cupps

That with Jelavic and Ivan as big subs would give us a sizeable improvement over last year's bench.

Feels like they’ll end up with a 7 player main rotation. Get one more 2/3 position player then fill out with low NIL players. Depth beyond 7 would require some surprising player development.

They'd be totally screwed if they stopped where they are right now. The have no guards on the bench currently besides Myles Herro and Braylen Nash, if those guys are having to play meaningful minutes it would be a very long season. They are going to add probably 3 more guys, you'd hope at least 1 is a guy who can play good minutes at the 2/3 when called upon

Huge pickup, think this guy is solid and will give good minutes at the 2 and 3
For sure. The Buckeyes had no reliable depth this past season, and now - in theory - they will have a quality backup in the backcourt and frontcourt both now. I doubt Jimmie will be starting most of the games unless there's some unforeseen personnel loss, but he's a guy they can plug and play at a couple different spots if necessary without a huge drop-off. Jimmie has a solid all-around game with no obvious weaknesses. If you compare him to Taison Chatman, you'd like to think that's a real upgrade, as Chatman didn't do anything well other than shoot (which he really only did well against bad defenses).

Still think they need 2 more additions. Another 3 type and a bench PG.
I don't know if the staff really wants a pure PG type, they seem to push for combo guards and want a "positionless" 5-out system. It's a bit difficult to say what direction they might go from here, as Williams can potentially play both of the roles they really needed - SF backup and G backup. At this point, they do only have one legit backup guard, so I would guess they will add another guard for depth purposes.

Yea I'm confident in saying that Williams is a big step up from anyone we had coming off the bench last year.

Having both Jelavic and Ivan now is for sure a better situation for the bigs off the bench too (hopefully Josh O stays healthy though)

Obviously Thornton is a lot to replace but I think the starting 5 this year is probably better equipped to play the type of ball that Diebler seems to want to play.
