Ohio State University geologist Lonnie Thomson, who has studied high-altitude glaciers in every corner of the world, has been named to receive the National Medal of Science for research calling attention to the connection between global warming and climate change.

I'm posting this here because I don't want the thread to turn into a debate over global warming. I simply want to take note of the fact that one of our professors is being awarded with America's highest scientific honor.

Lonnie Thompson To Receive National Medal Of Science

Even if one disagrees with the conclusions of Dr. Thompson's research as Ohio State students and alumni we can still be very proud of the honor that he has brought to our university.
