Actually, those were the Buckeyes playing in Glendale, but against a much better defense in Florida than what they were used to playing all year long.

Which brings us to the point that we can't evaluate what we've done against YSU or Purdue or even Washington against what LSU has done against VaTech or South Carolina or Florida. And if anything, the Big Ten is worse this season than last season. So even though we are cruising along right now, I wouldn't say that we would compare favorably against some of these other teams.

Just based on what I've seen this year out of LSU....I've watched the Va Tech game, Tulane game, UF game and South Carolina game, they are very beatable and their offense is very weak

I don't even think they go into the SEC championship undefetaed....I just think our defense is as good as advertised and while our offense does struggle at times, when Tressel decided to open it up some we've been efficient

Even w/ 3 picks, Boeckman looked sharp on his TD pass to Small, his drive where Hartline got it over the middle and Beanie could have easily gone over 100 for the fifth striaght game

Will the sledding get more difficult??? Absolutely, but there isn't a team in the country that will put big points up on our defense

And technically, yes that was the buckehes in Glendale, but that wasn't the same team we had seen all year...that was a sluggish, non fire-in the belly squad, that was told how good they were for close to 50 days......i don't think this team will let that happen, especially w/ last year firmly planted in their brains

I also have watched a lot of the LSU games - and the one thing that really stands out is how fast and hard-hitting that defense of theirs really is.

Their offense isn't going to be gaudy like say a Texas Tech or Hawaii. However, they are ranked 32nd in nation right now, (15 places north of tOSU) so they are doing something right. As was mentioned earlier by RoscoeParrish, Hester is a dangerous player.

Right now they are justifiably ranked as the best team in the country.

Unbeatable, no. Beatable, yes, like every team. Very beatable? I don't buy that. I think it would take an A-game from whoever plays them to beat them.

15. QUARTERBACK CONTROVERSEY

This kid - playing behind this line that makes his inability to scramble a moot point - has the potential to be one of the best in some time.

Have to strongly disagree here. Boeckman has improved, but I really don't see much potential for him beyond being servicable. I know we are only 6 games in his career, and if proved wrong, am more than willing to admit it (I hope I am), but I just don't see a LOT of improvement going on here. Doesn't mean I want to see the other QBs take over (actually, after watching them play, I believe Boeckman is the best we have). But seriously, if you had the ability to immediately draft another player for any one position, wouldn't it be the QB position? Certainly no one on the D, and the RB and WR I can't think of who I would replace.

That said, Boeckman has the ability, given our strengths in the other positions, to take this team to 2 NCs. He is gusty, generally makes good decisions, and has the trust of the coaching staff. That last point is good enough for me, but I don't think we should make TB out to be more than what he is.

I agree with most of the comments on TB...the only thing i really want to harp on is his constant throwing off of his back foot...at times he has looked very sharp and posied in the pocket ie a few passes to small over the middle

but at others he is just leaving the ball up in the air and just HOPING the WR can make a play instead of leading the WR so he can for sure make a play...

Uh, he's already more than "servicable"...he's the 13th-rated QB in the country. Purdue's Painter is 24th, USC's Booty is 39th, Cal's Longshore is 46th, Texas' McCoy is 48th...

I disagree...Him throwing off of his back foot is not effecting his balls...If you remember when Zwick used to throw off his back foot, the ball would sail, or be low...Boeck is very accurate, and as for his deep balls, it has been stated by the man himself(Tress) that the plan was to underthrow them to allow the receivers to make plays...So I don't think he is just lobbing it up and not thinking, but I think that he and the coaches believe that our WR's are better than their DB's and are saying that you are a better athlete just go get the ball...

Well if Tress is having him underthrow them...he should now have them air it out because I think we absolutely have thee speed in a variety of spots to go deep :oh:

All due respect, but the QB passing efficiency is one of the most unserviceable stats out there. In 2002, Krenzel was rated at 14. Does that number really reflect his Qb skills? Hardly. Does Boeckman's rating of 13 really mean he is the 13th best QB in the country? Again, I highly doubt it. If Boeckman can play his role and keep winning, no one is more happy than me. But he is not a great QB, and at this point, I don't think he can be one. He can fulfill the needs of this team. Good enough for me, and that was my only point.

GO BUCKS!

This is the kind of head in the clouds, we are invincible, uber homer fandom that makes me hate fans of other teams.

Sure we have a much better shot of claiming something like this than a Domer ever does (oh wait, they're going to win 4 with Tate right?) but come on.

What does it take to win a NC? The perfect mix of talent, coaching, schedule, and yes media hype. If you don't get the hype, and the votes, it doesn't matter. Not only is it going to be hard enough to finish the season unbeaten, but it will be even harder to shake off the stigma from last year. We have what is considered a weak schedule, couple that with people not wanting to see an "over rated Ohio State team" blown out by another "invincible SEC powerhouse" and you can easily find ourself in a situation where the media will pump up CAL or Oregon, or who knows maybe even a USF, or one of those other 11 currently unbeaten teams while the weak big10 gets relegated to a lesser BCS bowl.

Can it happen, sure, but there are a lot of if's. Lets not go anointing ourselves 2 time NC winners with this current crop of guys just yet.
