Me too, fwiw... went on intermittently for about an hour (or two).

What Dryden found has been removed as an available function. Everyone should shoot him some greenies for nailing that down as an issue. Since it's something that can be abused on a lot of other forums (it's a legitimate and properly working tool, but just has far too great an impact on sites with large databases) I won't detail it out here in the open.

I'm still very interested in hearing about any similar pockets of non-responsiveness. While I believe this may have been one of the bigger issues, it's clear there's another one, and I want to try to narrow down what it might be.

So call out when and if the site goes non-responsive for a few minutes at a time.

Yeah, I ran into the same thing. I've emailed SportsWar about it, it seems the ads from RealMedia (particularly the Lance Armstrong ad) try to pull something from mmismm.com and it holds the page up.

I suspect I'll hear back first thing tomorrow. If not, I'll turn the ads off.

I've been having a horrible time getting pages to load the last few days. The pages will start to load (sometimes) and then hang after maybe half of it is displayed. The status bar says "transferring data from www.buckeyeplanet.com." Sometimes it works if I refresh. Anyone else getting this?

Aside from the slow ad (which has since been removed by the provider) it's been rolling smoothly for me for the last couple of days.

When the page does finish loading for you, what does it say down at the very bottom? "Page generated in ..."? If you see less than, say, a second or two, but the page is taking a lot longer, then the problem is probably either on your end, or at a point between you and the server.

Anyway, if others are seeing load time problems, please do speak up. Looking at the MySQL stats, the server claims we're kicking out pages pretty quickly with the new memory and software configuration.
