Uh huh.

Guess how many [Mark May]s I give about what the talking heads say.

The media trolls OSU because we have a huge, and impassioned, fan base. Need web hits? Rip OSU. It has nothing to do with football, and you're kidding yourself if you think the average football fan gives a good god damn what Gordo said.

True, but OSU isn't the only school with a "huge, and impassioned fan base." And if anything, wouldn't that mean that they would try to promote us incessantly to get ratings, like they did with Notre Dame last year (another school with a "huge, and impassioned fan base," perhaps an even bigger one than ours)?

They made such a huge deal about ND being back after going 12-0, yet we went 24-0 and all we heard was that we were overrated and had a soft schedule.

True, but the general consensus when we were in the midst of this run was that we didn't deserve to be in the title game even though we were unbeaten because we "hadn't played anybody." Yet Free Sneaker Rapists had a much easier schedule than us, and no one disrespected them at all.

2006 Boise went 12-0 in the regular season and missed the title game to 1-loss Florida; same thing happened to 2008 Boise (behind two 1-loss teams). 14-0 Boise State ended the 2009 season ranked behind two 1-loss teams in both polls that year. That would not have happened to a bowl-eligible OSU in any season in living memory. And I don't know how you determine "general consensus", sounds like maybe you're an ESPN audience member, but the BCS and polls both would have had OSU in the top-2 this year with a win over MSU.

Would of/ Could of/ Should of, but we weren't.
If you enjoy mediocrity, go ahead, go root for TUN, but I think we should hold the program to a higher standard.

"We" weren't because Gene Smith played his cards wrong on the bowl ban, not because of a perception issue. You seem pretty dumb.

No. Have you ever seen "Private Parts" - the Howard Stern movie?

The biggest reason Howard Stern got ratings was cause even those who hated what he was doing "wanted to hear what he was going to say next"

Well that's my point, how come they didn't give ND the same treatment that they've been giving us? Their fan base is most likely larger than ours nationally, and also more hated.

I don't disagree with what your saying, but it seems like they're singling us out when there are other teams with as large a following, who every time they beat Pitt or Navy they're considered to be the top team in the country.

Or even the SUC, every time Bama beats Chattanooga they swear that they could beat an NFL team.

Prior to last season Notre Dame had been irrelevant, and they were irrelevant again in 2013. Ohio State will be playing in their 9th BCS game since '03. A lot of the hate is because of exposure and, in some twist of logic, the fact that OSU had the nerve to get blown out in a title game that they had every right to be playing in.

For all of the talk about disrespect, OSU was 2nd in the Harris and Coaches' polls prior to the CCG, while playing a Charmin soft schedule. Until they actually miss out on something, I don't care. David Pollack and the Bachelor contestant can go on CFB Live and talk as much shit as they want.

Talk to Jim Dalaney and his TV network that is in competition with ESPN.. which is partnered with the SEC... Ask yourself why ESPN has a contract with the SEC which is longer, on the order of 3 times longer, than their contract with the NFL. ND isn't a financial threat.

The only thing UFM and the team can do is win games..the schedules are set for years.if the media is against us because of whatever, Gee, Tat Gate, weak Big 10..all tOSU can do is win. I don't lose sleep over any of that, my years of watching tOSU and college football tells me that 24 and 1 is pretty damn good, and I don't need Mark May, or Frosty tips to validate it.

If people want the B1G to get public respect, they are going to have to go out and win games against the media darlings...the SEC and Florida State/Miami types. We have to schedule them in the regular season, and we have to start winning more than 50% of the B1G/SEC bowl matchups. Unfortunately, say what you will about the SEC, but it is clearly a deeper conference than the B1G in recent years...our 3-6 teams have been repeatedly beaten, and often crushed, in the Cap One/Outback type bowls in recent years. Wins in those games have to be second nature, or else perception is always going to be that the SEC is better. Winning is the only thing that will dispel anything.
