Did you know that Minnesota successfully filed an injunction to keep the State of Michigan from ripping off its state motto????
Way back in 1837 Michigan was admitted as a state. Minnesota was admitted in 1857, and had the great idea to think up a "State Motto".
Michigan noticed, and its state legislature soon passed a state motto that was a poorly disguised copy of Minnesota's motto. This resulted in legal action - a successful injunction by Minnesota - being filed in 1859.
Which is why Michigan no longer calls itself "The Land of 10,000 Assholes".
