For all you bar flies out there.

A series of questions about Ohio drinking laws. Mostly about bars, but also about retail sales.
Introduction to the Test Your Knowledge Quiz on Ohio's Alcohol Beverage Control Laws

I've been tending bar for over 30 years, and still didn't know all the answers (mostly tending from the stool side.)

Each time you take the test, one or two of the questions will vary. I have taken it three times. 8 out of 10 the first time, 10 out of ten the last two times (not because I'm smart, but because 8 out of 10 questions were repeats.)

The other side is for bar owner's, where I got 11 out of 15. - Only took it once. I imagine the same situation about repeat questions will happen.

I want to know if you have ever tried to buy a bottle of liquor from the bar for the road and been denied. If that isn't the height of alcoholism I don't know what is. The fact that they even had to write that law in the first place is a pretty large accomplishment for whoever did that enough to make it a problem.

Hey, liquor stores are only open till 9 or 10...but the bars are open till 2am... You'd be surprised how useful it is to know someone who owns a bar...or at least has the keys to one.

I don't know anyone that would pay a bar's price on a bottle of liquor, but getting the carry-out 6-pack at 2am last call is pretty common at all the bars I've ever frequented. You still wind up paying a premium, but what other option do you have at 2am?

Last I checked, Tee-Jayes doesn't have their liquor license.
