Let's Get the Ball Rolling for '07 (Emfinger/rankings/targets merge)

Jerome Peterson is very good. He plays for nearby Springfield South and had a pretty good year last year. Good size and great speed but he has a little work to do if he wants some big time offers. Link doesn't work for me for some reason. It goes to all the old rankings on the front page.

When do the Springfield Schools combine? Is that 07 or 08? Kind of off topic :)

Springfield always seems to have a couple of good athletes on the team, the problem is that they seem raw/don't have the grades a lot of the time, so you don't really hear much about them. When the two high schools merge, Springfield will probably be a big contender in a lot of sports unless they get a lot of transfers out.

Who are the "must have" players in OH for '07?

Besides Oliver, Evege, Torrence,Hinds, and possible Gamble/Mabin/Saine, who are the players you feel are must have players in Ohio. Haven't really given '07 much thought as I just recovered from obsessing over '06 recruiting so hard.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your first few are dead on...Oliver, Evege, Torrence and Hines. I would add Martin, Dailey and Saine. After that, there are a few guys that I personally really like...Kyle Hubbard, Brian Gamble, Joey D'Andrea, Solomon Thomas, Eric Thomas and Ben Graeff.

On that note, the BP Recruiting Team will have the first 2007 blog out shortly...(shameless plug, I know)

is Kyle Jefferson going to be pursued hard by OSU. Are any other Glenville prospects serious contenders for OSU offers? The Glenville to OSU pipeline is something special and want it to continue as long as possible.

I'm no expert, but a couple Glenville names I have seen thrown about are ATH Jer'male Hines and DB Gino Sturdivant. There are threads for both of these guys floating around the recruiting forum that should give you some idea in regards to whether they are OSU caliber players.

I'm going to plug Terence White of Pickerington Central. He is a wide receiver/cornerback and the son of former OSU and WVU safety Terry White. Had he not blown out his knee during workouts last August, he would be talked about in the same breath as Oliver, Gamble, Martin, Hines, etc. He is listed as 6-1 180 and and put up some excellent numbers at one of last spring's combines, running a 4.2 shuttle and a 10-foot broad jump. He also made states last year in the long jump and also does some high jump and sprints. If he can make it back from his injury by track season, expect interest to pick up on him. He should put up great numbers with Chazz Anderson also returning as his QB.

Sturdivant is likely to small for and OSU offer. Jefferson needs to really pick his game up to get an offer from OSU. He has all the tools but has been a little short on production. Rivals lists Jefferson as a TE, but I could see him being one of the big WRs we look at in the '07 class. Otherwise, he and Hubbard will probably get a look at TE.

I am going to second Hodge here...he is likely to be a solid recruit if he can prove he is fully healed from the knee injury. Hodge, if you would like to, go ahead an start up a thread on White, or let me know and I will do it.
