Les Miles (grass eater)

I fail to see why we are continuing to debate this when he won the game.

Let's pretend that Hester got stuffed and didn't convert on one of those, and LSU loses. Now it becomes a bad call, according to your rules that win = good call. So basically the only thing that decides if a call is correct or not correct is if you get a W out of it?

How can the same exact call be good in one case and bad in another, depending on an outcome?

Let's say Weis' call against Navy worked.
His quarterback actually somehow managed to convert that 4th down, and eventually, Ntre Ame won that game.
..
Would ANYONE still think it was a good call, aside from delusional Ntre Ame fans?
no..because it would still be a ridiculously bad call, which just happened to work out well due to pure luck

I'm not going to try and debate the right call/dumb call issue, mainly b/c it's really hard to defend, lol. But they DID win, and at the end of the day, that's ALL that matters.

I will point out that in the Auburn game the receiver actually caught the ball w/ 4 seconds left on the clock. And the fact that they actually lined up on the ball w/ around 15-16 seconds left on the clock, it just seemed to take a lot longer than it should have to get the ball snapped. I don't believe it was a dumb decision to go for the endzone in that situation, one shot for the win, if it doesn't work you let your kicker try to win it for you. It just looked a lot worse after the 3 seconds ticked off, after the receiver had caught it.

Florida game.......well, that's a different story. Like I said, that's a pretty tough one to defend, LOL.

Here's a copy & paste job from a Tiger website on some stats for Miles career at LSU:

And right now Les Miles' agent is copying down that post of yours GT and getting ready to make the pitch to Michigan

LOL.....you're probably right. I wish him the best, he's done well while he was here. Can't fault a guy for wanting to go home.

By the way, Congrats on the big win this weekend Buckeye fans!!!

Just wanted to mention a couple things I've heard on espin about this. Despite that Miles is a Meesheegan man, he's from Ohio, and therefore would therefore recruit effectively in Ohio. And Lou Holtzth sthaid that he shthould go to scUM because the Big10 is considerably beneath the SEC in competition. He backed this up with the same tired bullshit logic that AR, TN, Aub, AL, FL, GA are superior competition and will always be good, whereas the competition just doesn't exist in the Big10.

You can't just say that SEC has superior competition as if it's a self-evident truth--there must be some basis for saying that. That never seems to matter with the media, though.

As far as the recruiting is concerned, I think that he would have to know some Ohio high school coaches to make the fact that he's from Ohio matter. I would think he's been away too long.

Les Miles will not be the next coach at UM.

He sure looks like a "Michigan man" to me.

Don't care what Miles said, if you read his body language when he said, "let it rest...I won't do anything to hurt this program", that look down and away told the world that he wants the job at TSUN.

Here's one last attempt at our arguement Geaux.

Hypothetical situation:biggrin:

tOSU has the ball in the opponent's red zone say.......in the National Championship game in which the opponent is heavily favored. Tressel tries to fake a FG and fails. Fastforward to the end of the game, tOSU wins. This result does not necessarily make the call to fake a FG a good one. I am certain JT would have loved those 3 points when Miami kicked a FG to put the game in OT. Although, I wouldn't have a sweet "Last Stance" poster in my basement and a mental image of Cie Grant pulling Dorsey down......so maybe it was a good call after all.

it seemed to me that he looked down and away (and then back up) to choke back some tears. could be he was getting emotional trying to contain the thought of coaching at scUM...
