Funny article on cnnsi.com saying that he could possibly be this year's MoC - a talented RB with a pea for a brain.
Here's the best part:

In short, White hasn't been too bright, telling NFL teams he gained a bunch of weight going on a holiday eating binge at his mother's house before the Trojans' Jan. 4 Rose Bowl game against Texas, choosing to do little at the combine before he first hurt his hamstring and generally giving the impression that he is, as one NFL personnel man put it, "a million-dollar talent with a 10-cent head.''

So that's why he got stuffed on 4th down. :slappy:

Let me get this right. A USC running back, who we will never play against, makes a few unwise comments, gets a bit out of shape, puts on some weight, and pulls a hamstring. And somewhere in there we are supposed to find humor?

Tibs, weren't you asserting last week that you don't take delight in the misfortune of others? If not, then what is this thread?

He's gonna go to Pitt or Carolina. Both teams are desperate for a back like White.

That said, he has high Clarett potential. And yes, I do take a little humor in White's pitiful attempts to explain why his stock is plummeting.

I, unlike Tibor, am willing to admit that I can laugh at the self-created misfortunes of others.

"LenDale White's supposed free fall out of the first round of the NFL draft provides a lot of insight into how the NFL works. He's being cast as a head case and a malcontent because he has put on weight and hasn't been timed in the 40. Of course, a major reason for his weight gain and the only reason he hasn't run a 40 is because he has a hamstring injury. But apparently, that doesn't matter. His reputation is ruined. And, well ... deservedly so. White simply doesn't have the commitment NFL teams are looking for. Now, had he taken steroids to overcome his injury like then Northwestern defensive lineman Luis Castillo did last year with the andro, I'd feel differently. As would NFL teams. Castillo's stock rose even after he tested positive at the 2005 NFL combine, with him eventually going 28th to the Chargers. But that's only because Castillo showed he wanted it enough to take illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Not White, though. And for that, he and his family should be ashamed."

I'm also very confused.

I saw a video that showed Lendale White jumping off a building. I can't believe he survived that, and even if he did, there's no way he could play football within a year. :tongue2:

Stock falling on White

Poor showing at combine could drop USC tailback into second round

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

<!-- begin body-content -->Todd McNair knows the importance of measurables.
He spent eight years as a running back in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Oilers, then coached the same position for three years with the Browns.
McNair just finished his second season handling the same assignment at Southern California. And even he's not happy with Trojans backup tailback LenDale White.
White had been regarded as the best big back going into Saturday's and Sunday's NFL Draft. He elected not to work out at the NFL scouting combine camp in February, however, then did little at USC's pro day April 2 because he said he was injured.
At the combine, White stood just under 6-foot-1 and weighed 238 pounds. At pro day, his weight was up to 244. He bench-pressed 225 pounds just 15 times, one more than the punter and nine fewer than Heisman Trophy-winning teammate Reggie Bush. He didn't run the 40.
An MRI afterward revealed White has a right hamstring tear. The doctor who performed the exam, Randall Eldridge, told ESPN.com that White could be sidelined until mid-May.
Going into this weekend, the junior from Denver is missing the magic number used to judge running backs: a 40 time.
``It's a shame it worked out the way it did for LenDale, all the questions being raised,'' McNair said by telephone recently.
``His character, he has matured, but there is some validity in the questions. His work ethic has progressed since I've been here... but he hasn't been the hardest worker.
``A guy doesn't work out at the combine, comes back six pounds heavier and doesn't run. I like for my guys to compete. I tell these guys, `You've got to put everything into it.' There are too many guys fighting and clawing and scratching to get that money,'' McNair said.
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. rates White the fourth-best back in the draft behind Bush, DeAngelo Williams of Memphis and Laurence Maroney of Minnesota, but thinks White ``will be a workhorse in the NFL.'' Kiper expects White to fall into the second round.
While at one time he would have been a consideration for the Browns with the 12th overall pick, there's an outside chance White could last until they select No. 11 in Round 2.
Pro Football Weekly's Draft Preview rated White as the second-best back behind Bush, and compared White with Baltimore's Jamal Lewis. It said, ``In a big-man's league where a premium is placed on size and power, White brings a lot of value with little tread on his tires.'' It also said character issues could push White down and perhaps off some draft boards.
At the combine, White thought his size would help him in the draft.
``DeAngelo and Reggie are in a class of their own, and then you have the in-betweens like Maroney,'' White said. ``How big I am and how strong I am helps me out a lot. I'm kind of happy to be in this class because you get a lot more touchdowns when you're big.''
White gained 1,302 yards in 2005 and 1,103 in 2004. Last season, he and Bush became the first running-back tandem in USC history to go over 1,000 yards. White scored an NCAA-leading and Pac-10 record-tying 26 touchdowns, 24 rushing.
``Breaking Charles White's all-time touchdown record, that's my greatest joy,'' White said at the combine.
LenDale White finished with 57 career scores (52 rushing), topping ex-Browns back Charles White's 53 (49 rushing).
McNair called LenDale White ``the total package'' and said, ``From a measurables perspective, he's more what they're looking for than Reggie.''
He disagreed with White's decision not to work out in Indianapolis, saying that if a player is not among the top two, he needs to showcase his skills.
``The saddest thing is the stuff he would have shown during his workouts,'' McNair said. ``He's surprisingly light on his feet for a heavy guy. He has agility and quickness and balance and hands.''
McNair played with Hall of Famer Marcus Allen, Christian Okoye and Barry Word in Kansas City, and Gary Brown and Lorenzo White in Houston. He said when he arrived at Southern Cal from Cleveland, Bush and LenDale White caught him by surprise.
``These two can go,'' McNair said. ``They're the two best I've ever been around.''

This might move White out of round one.

Sources: White failed drug test
Revelation likely to hurt running back's status for NFL draft

BY SCOTT WOLF, Staff Writer

Former USC tailback LenDale White tested positive during an NFL drug test, according to multiple sources, which could affect his stock for today's pro draft.
White spoke briefly to a reporter Friday but sounded unconcerned about the situation.

"(The NFL) ain't worried about it," he said. "The issue's been addressed."

Word of the drug test spread through NFL circles Friday and several sources said the test took place at the Indianapolis predraft combine in late February.

"If it's out, it's got to be a combine test," said a source with knowledge of NFL drug testing. "Some teams also give their own tests but those are at individual workouts and no one releases those."

The news could not come at a worse time for White, who has not impressed NFL teams since announcing in January he would turn pro.

"If this is true, this late before the draft, that will sink him," said an agent who asked not to be identified.

White's pro day workout at USC was a disaster. He weighed 244 pounds, six more than at the combine, and bench pressed 225 pounds just 15 times. White then failed to perform any other workouts because of a hamstring injury.

Am MRI later determined that White suffered a moderate tear in his hamstring that will sideline him until mid-May and prevented him from running or working out individually for NFL teams.

"This validates that the reason I didn't run wasn't because I didn't want to, wasn't because I was lazy, but because I was injured," White told the Denver Post. "I did everything I possibly could to get ready for our pro day, but I knew something wasn't right with my leg. Now I've got a doctor with 100 percent expertise on hamstrings saying I have a tear. To me, it proves the attacks against me were unjust."

White was originally projected to be a possible top-10 pick and envisioned going in the top five with USC teammate Reggie Bush, much like Auburn tailbacks Ronnie Brown and Carnell "Cadillac" Williams last year.

But recent mock drafts show him sliding to a late first-round or even second-round selection, which seemed unlikely after he rushed for 124 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Rose Bowl in January.
