Led Zeppelin reuniting!

Zeppelin to go back on the road

Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.
Bassist John Paul Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought after Plant ruled himself out.

The last time the band performed together was at the O2 arena in London in December 2007.

Speculation has since been rife that the surviving members of the band, with Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham, would go back on the road.

Jones, speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Devon said: "We are trying out a couple of singers.

"We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."

He said that he and guitarist Jimmy Page along with drummer Jason Bonham did not want a replica of Plant.
He said: "It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert.

The singer whose voice made the band isn't touring with the band? Precisely the reason why I didn't got see Journey or Styx when they came to Hawaii. Even if a Plant-less LZ came to Hawaii, I wouldn't go see them...and I'm sure I'm not the only one with that thought process.

Saw Zep in '76, guess I was lucky.

The only band that I really would like to see is the Stones in a small venue. I wouldn't pay much to see them in a Stadium. But if they ever came to say...Cleveland Music Hall, The Taft in the Natti I would drop a grand for that ticket.

I would see them without Plant but it wouldn't be Led Zep and I wouldn't pay through the nose to see them. I have a feeling though they'd still charge outrageous prices.

Bing-fucking-o. They were discussing this very thing on a classic rock station this morning and they had the perfect comparison: Would you pay to see the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger?

Well... no, but Zep was just as much about Page (and John Bonham) as it was about Plant. Not the same thing as with Jagger and the Stones, imo.

EDIT: Basically what numbers said...

I know there will be disagreement with the statement I'm about to make, but...

Zeppelin's biggest contributions have come instrumentally, not vocally. Not trying to take away from Plant. But Zeppelin's music stood out for me. I rarely listened to hear Plant.

They're one of the few bands that I've found myself listening to and focusing on one instrument, instead of the song. And I've found myself focusing on each instrument by itself. Doesn't happen often with me.

Plant is the fucking man, though.
