Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

if they dont land AD, KD, or Kyrie or some other big name ... i’m breaking out the costco sized vat of popcorn

Im still salty about losing Kyrie for fuckall cuz he didnt want to be 2nd fiddle anymore... and then Lebron bouncing for nothing very next year.
And i dont even like bball. So id be pissed if they reunite.
Im not sure trading the bank for AD will make enough difference. Playoffs sure but early exit with 1 star in prime, 1 missing games for 'load management', and the typical Lebron entourage of 30+ yr old journeymen.

Do people still think LeBron went to LA to win?

I think he knows hes getting close to the twilight of his career and would rather spend time building his brand for retirement by schmoozing it up with the LA elite.

The Lakers are going to end up being in a bigger mess when he leaves than before he got there.

I don't think LeBron understands real leadership and how to persuade others to perform better. Claiming his teammates aren't focused and dont love the game and expecting anything positive to come out of that is a terrible strategy.

The amateur GM stuff may have made some sense at one point in the short term, but you can't overhaul the roster every season and sacrifice the future in order to maximize the current team, it just doesn't work that way in pro sports. At some point he needs to accept that he chose to be on a bad basketball team for business reasons. I doubt many free agents want to play with a guy that is going to be constantly criticizing them and possibly trying to get them traded.

only this time... kinda like in Miami the front office does not care what he wants, they’ll listen to his input but they will make their own decisions...
I kinda feel like his move to LA was more about building his post-NBA empire than actually winning any titles. Taking days of for "load management" while on twitter in a music studio late into the night. This "Space Jam" reboot project. Plus, from reading about his on-court performance this year, he doesn't appear to have the same intensity and some have even said his skills appear to be eroding some. Now, given the mileage on his body, the second part is believable, but this is a guy that has dragged much less talented teams and got them deep into the playoffs just by simple force-of-will.

I think any Lakers fans that thought they were getting super-human LeBron and that titles were just around the corner are in for a sobering dose of reality. They didn't get that guy. They got a guy that seems more focused on getting his post-ball entertainment career established than a guy interested in winning more rings. You can't tell me that focused LeBron and that roster, for all of its faults, isn't enough to get into the postseason. LeBron, Kuzma, Ingram and the other retread bin guys should be enough to get 45-50 wins if he had the same fire he did before this move.

He didn't go to LA to win this year. He's hoping they can sign another big time player or two this offseason and they might get to see the Lebron the Cavs had the past 4 years next year. On the other hand maybe he's done giving 110% to b-ball and just wants to get paid to give 50% to the game and use the other 50% on what comes next. If that's the case good for him and I'm glad the Lakers get to pay him for min effort. Also it looks like the Lakers still have their pick in the draft so the worse they play the better trade chip that becomes.
