Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

So is the move basically that he waits for several days until all the other free agents like Miller, etc. sign elsewhere, so that he can then claim Cleveland didn't do enough to assemble a good team around him?

The Cavs roster would include him, Irving, and likely Kevin Love, while all Miami can hope to do is assemble an older version of last year's squad. The same squad who never stood a chance against San Antonio, and probably OKC despite what the talking heads say. If he picks Miami it looks like he really did discover loyalty... unfortunately for us it came 4 years too late.

At this point I really don't know how you'd justify the Heat. Even with Wiggins the Cavs are going to be the better team as soon as next year.

Wiggins camp came out yesterday and said there is no trade involving Minnesota and/or Kevin Love.......TIFWIW

I don't know why you would think about trading Wiggins. In a scenario where Lebron comes to the Cavs for the rest of his career Wiggins will still be the best player on the team in 4-5 years. Having a guy like Wiggins gives the Cavs the ability to go big or small since he can play the 2 or 3. If I'm making a deal for Love the best I do is Waiters, Bennett, and picks. I just don't see a way that the salary cap will work to trade for Love.

Agreed. Although I'd be willing to throw in Thompson as well.

Problem is Thompson has the same agent as Lebron and I think him staying in Cleveland would be part of the deal, much like Andy. On the other hand it might be the only way to get a deal done for Love. Given the Cavs current roster I think Thompson would be looking at playing 20-25 minutes a game at center. Have to ask yourself are the Cavs a better team with Love than they would be with Thompson, Bennett, and Waiters. Next year probably. In 2-3 years probably not.

Depending on how he develops, Waiters may no longer be affordable for the Cavs when his contract expires after the 2016-2017 season. He could be looking at near max money like a Hayward or Lance Stephenson type (I know Lance isn't getting offers because of his playoff antics, but it's a decent comparison otherwise). Bennett is another especially interesting piece because I think Blatt's offense could allow him to shine. And Thompson is tough because he's short for a center, but he's probably the best of the bunch.

The Cavs have a few interesting moves they can make with or without LeBron. I think the front office has handled the offseason pretty ingeniously (especially with the recent moves to get LeBron without going overboard) so I'm curious to see what comes next. I agree that getting rid of Wiggins probably isn't the best move, but the floor spacing makes a lot more sense with Love. The other side of that is if LeBron comes in the Cavs move from "up-and-coming" to "win now."

the biggest positive with wiggins is his defensive potential. now, lebron won't be required to always guard the best wing player on every team to compensate for wade's or lewis' or any one of their pg's defensive inabilities. that alone will help preserve lebron, let alone the fact that wiggins could play 15 or so minutes a night at the 3 to allow lebron to not have to log 40 minutes a night. i see zero chance the cavs give up wiggins.
