Look, I don't really care one way or the other, but somehow there is a room full of coaches and they think the guy graded out well, but several folks who watched the game on TV know better. Doesn't make much sense. And the notion that they are using it as a motivational tool would be particularly bad. As someone who works heavily within motivational realms, I can tell you that the way to get other workers to excel is NOT to reward a guy not excelling. That is a great way to lose an employee (or player)..

I mean yeah that's always crossed my mind when I shake my head watching Tuf try to chase down a play... that said the next impact game he has will be his first since the Army game a few years ago. He's a great leader and seems like a great kid but he's got his limitations that's for sure.

Urban Meyer employed Bill Davis and Tim Beck. Coaches make mistakes.

Yeah i get that no one is perfect. This isn’t one coach, it’s a room full of coaches and they are all seeing the same thing. And as others have noted, multiple coordinators have felt the same way. So yeah, sure, coaches are capable of making mistakes. But they’re far less likely to make those mistakes in grading than the rest of us.

The reality is that, given his speed, we are always going to be susceptible to a mobile qb having a big game against us. Barbie killed us in the playoffs last year, and

And Army wasn't exactly stacked with speed. The sad reality is that with Borland we are always going to be susceptible to a mobile qb having a huge game against us. Barbie (and he's not exactly Vince Young) absolutely killed us in the playoffs last year, and I don't think that happens with any of Borland's faster predecessors playing that position.

Barbie (and he's not exactly Vince Young) absolutely killed us in the playoffs last year, and I don't think that happens with any of Borland's faster predecessors playing that position.

I agree... if we cant stop it I'm surprised we don't attempt to get more speed inside like Dallas Gant for example.

LB Tuf Borland
Tuf Borland silencing the crowd that doubts him is an October tradition that rivals trick-or-treating. Borland put on a run-stopping clinic in the win over Penn State, especially in the opening quarter, when he had five tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss. He seemed to be everywhere, and he was getting there violently. Penn State thought it would have success on the ground against the Buckeyes. While the Rushmen up front set the line of scrimmage early on, Borland set the tone, making sure Penn State couldn’t run the ball and racking up tackles in one of his best performances.



“I don’t think they understand how good of an athlete [Borland] actually is and how much of a leader he really is,” Ohio State linebacker Pete Werner said. “You talk about his knowledge of the game, I’ve never seen anything like it. I really haven’t. How he attacks the meeting room as well as on the field, they’re very similar. He just loves football.

“It’s just crazy that some people don’t see what he really puts in to be a great football player. We all see that. The way he approaches the game is like no other, and his leadership is the best in our unit, almost the best on our team. I wish people saw that more. And he’s really worked hard in the offsets to work on his body and his athleticism, and what you see out of him is going to be great.”
