Eichenberg is a Bednarik semifinalist after recording 72 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups and a pick-six in Ohio State’s first eight games of the season. He’s led the way for a Buckeye defense that currently ranks sixth in the nation in total defense and 10th nationally in scoring defense, and is graded by PFF as the sixth-best linebacker in college football who has played at least 100 snaps this season.

TOMMY EICHENBERG NAMED LOTT IMPACT TROPHY PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK

Another Ohio State defender has been honored for his performance in the Buckeyes’ win over Penn State.

While J.T. Tuimoloau filled up his trophy case this week with awards like Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week and Bronko Nagurski Award Player of the Week, Tommy Eichenberg received the Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week award for the second week in a row. Eichenberg receives the award after recording a season-high 15 total tackles in Ohio State’s 44-31 victory.
