Precisely why Tony Pauline is writing hack articles for a pissant website rather than being employed by an NFL team as a talent evaluator...

NJ-Buckeye;2362293; said:looks like we'll just have to keep him another year -- darn
Scout B: I spend a lot of time in Columbus each year and I REALLY like Shazier. He's a beast, plain and simple. Few years back, I was observing a different Buckeye backer (Etienne Sabino) at practice because he received high grades by a few scouting services. But as I was watching him, I was blown away by this athletic linebacker performing bag drills next to him. I asked a young OSU coach what his story was and I found out it was a true frosh by the name of Shazier. He looked 200 pounds soaking wet but his closing burst and active nature was jaw-dropping. Kid's a third year junior now and I think the secret's out. He's got a killer motor, team-first "tude" and the athletic traits to play sideline-to-sideline. I see a mix of Daryl Washington and Lavonte David, two second round guys. I can't see teams making the same mistake with Ryan and letting him fall that far.
Ohio State football: Shazier encouraged by Meyer to be himself
Ryan Shazier returns as linebacker and leader for Ohio State.

Just be yourself. That was the message Ohio State coach Urban Meyer had recently for junior linebacker Ryan Shazier, who admitted on Monday he had been stressed out over being more of a vocal leader for an Ohio State defense that will have eight new starters on Saturday in the season-opener against Buffalo. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder join safeties Christian Bryant and C.J Barnett as the only returning starters, at least for the first game while junior cornerback Bradley Roby serves a one-game suspension levied by Meyer Shazier said he was feeling the pinch. ?I think I was pretty stressed,? he said. ?I?ve been talking to coaches a lot more. I feel like I?m calming down and relieving myself of the stress. ?I?ve been playing a lot better these last few weeks.

Ohio State football: Ryan Shazier hits reset button as leader, linebacker

Linebacker Ryan Shazier talked with his coaches after struggling with the best way to be the leader he wanted to be.
Ryan Shazier came to media interviews on Monday wearing a T-shirt depicting the iconic photo of Muhammad Ali glowering over a fallen Sonny Liston.
Shazier is a big Ali fan. He has posters of him on his walls at home. Shazier is much more soft-spoken than Ali was in his boxing days — who isn’t? — but it’s easy to see why the Ohio State linebacker identifies with him.
“Because he wanted to be great and I want this team to be great and I want to be great,” Shazier said as the Buckeyes began preparations for their opener on Saturday against Buffalo.

Yesterday was the first time in many games that Ryan Shazier wasn't the best linebacker on the field.
