The two basketball programs at Ohio State have big weekends ahead of them. The men's team will host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday afternoon while the women's team take on the mighty Connecticut Huskies on Sunday. Friday night: Report from Bill Greene, who works for the Ohio State site on Scout.com:
Plantation's Ryan Shazier was committed to Florida, before announcing Friday morning that he would not be playing for the Gators. After narrowing his choices to Ohio State and LSU, Shazier made the announcement Friday evening, at his graduation party.
"I have committed to Ohio State, and that's where I will be playing college football," Shazier stated Friday evening. "I've never been happier, or felt better, than I do right now. I loved the atmosphere and their facilities a lot. Their players were great guys, especially Etienne Sabino who was so great to me and my dad the whole time."
"My family and I have such a great feeling about Jim Tressel, and my dad and I talked it over last night and decided Ohio State was the best place for me," he added. "We also love (linebackers coach) Luke Fickell, and think he's a great mentor for me, on and off the field."
