Nigel Glover Commits to Ohio State

We just received a commitment from former 2023 class 4* Ohio LB Nigel Glover, who is a likely LB prospect here but is growing into the position physically. He had a rather stranger path in getting here, as he was set to be at NW this year before the Fitzgerald firing. Additionally, OSU never offered him last year but pursued him after Glover entered the portal (presumably partly due to only having one LB commit in the '23 class).

Due to being at the 85 man limit, Glover will grayshirt this year and go onto scholarship in the second semester. He reportedly chose the grayshirt opportunity here over immediate scholarships at Kentucky and ttun. I believe that arrangement is perfect for both sides, as Glover needs a little time to develop physically and absorb our defensive scheme, and we can stay at the 85 man limit.

Didn't see a thread for him, so I wanted to create one and welcome Nigel back to Ohio.

I like this pick up from everything I've read. Ohio kid who wants (even more clearly, as he's taking a grayshirt) to be here. Could use a year with Coach Mick, but was a 4-star and a B1G team's top recruit. I really like the quality work we're doing with the transfer portal.

Spot on, he wouldn't have played this year at NW anyways at LB and gets to go where he wanted to play in the first place. On our end, we're more than set with Eich, Chambers, Hicks, Carrico and Powers etc. this year.

But in the next 2-3 years, we needed one more guy at LB to add to Reese, Pierce and Stover. Glover fits in well with those guys and we will give him plenty of time to develop and fit into our system. Our staff seems to be using the portal really well now, this was a good pickup and innovative to use the grayshirt to fill a future need. Throw in that I believe he is fairly close with Dorian Brew (top '25 Ohio recruit from Glover's HS), and that is a really nice bonus here. Two Northmont Thunderbolts on our roster would be great, and make Kurt Coleman proud.

That's one that I think the kid would be better served to sit still then transfer again. But some kids are going to be impatient
Idk, I think he had to leave to get any actual PT. Glover was running with the 3s, and its not like he was going to start next year either with the likes of Styles, Hicks, Powers, Pierce and Stover

Tend to agree from the outside looking in. When we got the transfer, it made sense for both sides. Since then, things have changed and he would probably have to wait awhile to play. We are also recruiting at a level where hitting the field later in your career is difficult at many positions.

Liked his potential and still do, but I don't know if he would've seen the field much here and understand the decision. Best of luck to the kid.
