LB K'Vaughan Pope (transfer to Tenn St)

Not justifying in any sense, but Gant and Pope waited their turns behind 4 LBs who ate up all the snaps last year. Then got pushed aside by young pups. Had to be hard to take.

I think there may be a lot of that going on right now.

Stir in some NIL jealousy and the one time transfer rule and Day is earning his keep this year.

This. I fail to find the humor in the situation. Not a good look for the program. That side of the ball already looks to be in disarray and then to lose two players in one week at a position where development seems to be lacking doesn't feel like a net positive.

Honestly Washington has fallen apart this year... then again the guy is in his mid 30s. Maybe he's still growing professionally? That said, this is unacceptable.

There's no route other for him to go... a running back passed him up on the depth chart.

Yes there is, I'll make the same comment I made on Dallas Gant:

I guess that if you are a Jr and/or Sr and behind a couple guys that are Fr and/or Soph(s) on the depth cart, or not even on the depth cart; you could be a candidate for the transfer portal or just quit the team during a game. However, these guys should also consider "life after football". If you can't break the 2 deep at Ohio State just maybe 1) you aren't going to make it in the NFL either and 2) you should stay at Ohio State and concentrate on getting your degree in a career field that offers a good financial future.

I mean, he’s been here a while and isn’t very good. Neither was Gant.

Neither was going to be in the rotation once conference play started. Them leaving really does nothing.

The fact that they felt owed time probably speaks a lot to why they weren’t prepared enough to get any.

Fuccc Ohio State doesn't land anyone NIL deals in Columbus.

No... it speaks to the "ah who knows" approach we took all year.

This is what no depth chart gets you. Frustrated kids that don't know where they stand.

Spare me that they knew better because they didn't. Both Gant and Pope played along with Mitchell the past 3 year and played in basically every game this year. Hit kids with it straight and don't BS them and we probably get this in the spring.

Then the hundreds of reps they took from our starters to back to our best players. Play the best players and let everyone know where they stand. THAT'S THE MISTAKE that's being made for no depth chart.

Sure but signs of the rotation this year don't point to BS but that they really had no clue on the rotation. Now is that perhaps an evaluation issue? Yes but that doesn't necessarily mean they BS'd them

All this assumes that the players aren't being told where they stand. The fact that they don't provide the media with a depth chart doesn't mean there isn't a depth chart

No bull shit... give any coach 4 scrimmages and they'll know who the best 3 are.

Washington did not handle this well and tried to string along kids. Instead of losing kids in the spring he lost them mid season.

Only thing that sucks is that 19 and 36 took a ton of reps from kids. Had we told them the full deal we again probably lose them in the spring.

Can't tell me we didn't now in the spring.
