LB John Simon - (2012 B1G DPOY, Super Bowl Champ)

Can you say monster? What kind of weight does he project to play at in college? 265 seems more like d-end size to me.

In the games I saw, Simon split time between DE and DT. He was normally at DT in 4-3 formations, and moved out to DE in passing situations.

Most likely DT all the way. He's got his senior year of high school left and I'd say probably leaves HS at around 270-280, and then puts on 15-20 pounds at least once he arrives on campus, thanks to the S&C.

After some extensive research I've found the secret to Johnny's strength:

There is no other explanation.

old news now... ESPN

Ohio State adds coveted junior defensive lineman John Simon

John Simon has already given head coach Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes his pledge over Notre Dame, according to ESPN affiliate Bucknuts.com

He said, "I've always loved Ohio State and there were a lot of great schools out there but Ohio State was always on top and it's where I was most comfortable at. I really loved Notre Dame too. It was a tough decision but Ohio State is definitely the place I wanted to be."

The ecstatic Cardinal Mooney junior also said, "Words can't express how excited I am. I'm looking forward to having a chance to win a national championship at Ohio State but first I'm looking forward to focusing on my senior year and try to win another state title."

Maybe this has been mentioned (I haven't reviewed the entire thread) - there is a lot of talent at Mooney that seems to leave the state (see ND). I would bet Mooney has more OSU offers that have gone elsewhere of any other Ohio HS- hopefully John's commitment can begin to change that trend.

:oh:

This is an outstanding pickup...when I saw YCM play Watterson this past fall - Simon was an obvious stud.

He already looks like a Big Ten MLB - and if he stays a DL in college coupled with tOSU s&c program, he has the frame to fill out nicely.
