LB Jerome Baker (Seattle Seahawks)

Lydell Ross purportedly had a better 40 time at 230 or whatever he topped out at than he did when he came to OSU.

I think what made him look slow, indirectly, was his breathtakingly poor vision which led him to be slowed down, directly, by so many OL asses he ran straight into.

Well it is hard to see when you close your eyes once you're handed the ball...

I fully disagreed with the writer of this article stating that Baker and Hilliard have maxed out their frames. It's silly to think, and also saying that he would lose speed by putting on weight. I can easily see Baler being similar to Lee and Shazier, and flying around the field even with 15-20 extra pounds. Baker is crazy athletic and will do great in the gym with Mariotti.

Yeah it's basically not possible for a 17/18 yr old kid to have "maxed out his frame" - physical maturity for males is in the 22-24 yr old range AND he's going to a university with world-class facilities and staff. He'll put on some weight and all of it will be "good" weight.

Yeah that is far from accurate. I see Baker putting on 25-35 before he leaves. He really needs another 15 before he is ready to hit the field at LB. And if you look at him, there is plenty of room left.
No doubt. He might be all of 205-210 in that picture. Simply putting on a couple inches of muscle in his arms, chest, and legs is going to add 20+ pounds easily. Not sure if he'll put on 35 pounds, but I'll bet he'll put on 15-20 his first year and will top out at around a 25-30 pound gain by the time he leaves. The moron that said he's "maxed out" needs to be reassigned to covering non-sports news...

Ohio State LB Jerome Baker wants to change how athletes talk about sexual violence

In Aug. 2013, an explosive rape case involving two football players from Steubenville High School in Ohio made national news, pushing football players from northeast Ohio to the fore of a national conversation about sexual assault.

In Cleveland, a two-hour drive from Steubenville, standout high school linebacker Jerome Baker was bothered by the way people in his home state began to look at football players as if they were all perpetrators.

"It really bothered me that I played Steubenville," he says. "When [the story] went national, I remember watching on TV and seeing the road that leads down to the stadium. I remember thinking, I rode down that road. I was in that town."

Baker also felt judged by strangers, just for being a high school player.

"You were looked at strangely," he said, describing how he felt as a football player. "People just looked at you as violent people. I really didn't like that whole outlook on us."

He wanted to do something about it, but didn't quite know what. And then a neighbor asked him for help moving a mattress, and it gave him an idea.

Cont'd ...

Man, I'm so tired of Urban Meyer recruiting all these thugs.

That is an outstanding article about a young man who seems to have his head squarely on his shoulders. The variety of articles coming out about different players and some of the outstanding work they are doing is a testament to a whole bunch of people doing things the right way. Parents, coaches, family, but especially the young men doing the work.

Per Urban's Wednesday press conference, Baker may be an injury replacement on kick coverage.

What's the latest redshirt burning you remember? I recall Rehring and Dionte Johnson making late debuts in 2004. After the 3-game losing streak, so 10/23 vs Indiana?

OHIO STATE FRESHMAN LB JEROME BAKER LOSES HIS BLACK STRIPE

Urban Meyer said Thursday afternoon that freshman LB Jerome Baker will probably make his debut on special teams against Penn State. A few hours later, it looks like the former four-star prospect from Cleveland Benedictine lost his black stripe.

Baker was originally committed to Florida, but after the Will Muschamp upheaval Baker eventually ended up in Columbus.
