This wasn't a surprise. I read somewhere that his dad had told the staff that his son would transfer at seasons end. Why wait? He wasn't close to the rotation, Reese took his spot, imo.

I mean, everyone and everything is optimistic in August. As a player you think you'll be in the rotation at the very least if you're not starting. I don't think anyone thought that Reese would be this good, this fast! He had several games where looked like the best LB on the field and he was a true Sophomore with very limited snaps pre 24-25 season. And Powers would be fighting Pierce for 2nd string MLB reps and he's 2 years ahead of him. May as well go to another school and have a better starting chance

Of course he wanted to be here. But at some point, you have to do what is best for you if you want to see the field. Powers wasn't going to see the field with any regularity outside of maybe special teams.

He’s got Sonny and Reese ahead of him… I wish we saw more of him because every single time he got in he wrecked someone.

Powers has a place in Big 10 just not as physically talented as Sonny and Reese. He will thrive in the right situation.

Welll are we sure he should have been behind them. Especially Sonny. Sonny is an athletic freak but struggled a lot playing LB this year. Reese I just I saw played but don’t think he was doing much

Powers played 25 plays all year wasn’t being developed…I guess that’s one of the criticisms of Day and company.

So....you're not a fan of JL and how he handles the linebackers now?
Development happens in practice where these guys are seen every day. I'm going to guess JL (and Knowles) know more about his status than you or I do...and he wasn't getting game time for a reason.
