LB Freddie Lenix (Cincinnati signee; transfer to Notre Dame College)

That's the downside to the tougher admission standards imposed by tOSU. Personally, I am in favor of tougher admission standards because it is better in the long run for the university as a whole and all of its alumni. However, it has cost us a few recruits and probably will again in the future. Hopefully, this thing can get cleared up in Freddie's case.

This type of situation happens all across the country, its a combination of the schools admission guidelines (if you want to call them that) and the work of the prospect at his high school.

Right now, I don't think there is a lot of details of why he may be in trouble with admission to OSU but the positive thing is that regardless if he does or does not get into OSU, he will have an opportuinity at another college.

I would love to see him at OSU but if that doesn't work out, lets not blast the admissions or the kid.

Hopefully this situation is stemming from a first denial of admission. Under univeristy guidlines, denials are automatically reviewed with more emphasis placed on essay admissions. It sounds late in the game for this to be the case though.

I think it is so preposterous that i kid cannot qualify at one B10 school and qualify at another (MSU, Iowa). I certainly hope this is not the case with Freddie!

Why is it preposterous? It's no different than a kid who can get into OSU but not Northwestern.

Plus, now that the NCAA is going to begin penalizing schools for every kid who gets an athletic scholarship and does not graduate, it is EXTREMELY important that the school be very selective in who they award scholarships to.

It is my personal opinion, that if a kid signs a NLOI, then he should be guaranteed to clear unless its fault of his own doing.
I think its ridiculous to do this too a kid in May, after he signed in February.
Now unless Freddie completely slacked off (hell who didn't their final qtr of HS) and his grades dropped too much, then he should be allowed in.
That is the only case I see fit to pull a schollie after a signature.
It would suck really, really bad to lose this kid now.

And like I said in the other thread...

It would be absolutely idiotic to stay in conference, he has already signed a LOI and therefore can not receive a scholarship from Iowa.
Thanks Lloyd, I needed to be talked down. It hit me like a ton of bricks and I didn't have the ability to really think it thru clearly.

strohs.....like I have said before, if a kid signs an LOI with the understanding that he needs to keep his GPA at a certain level and then fails to get it done, do not blame the admissions. I am not saying that is the case here, because I don't have details, but it would not suprise me if something like this example is the reason for his problem.
