LB Dorian Bell (transfer to Duquesne)

Would he be similar to a Taylor Mays at safety?

Mays is every bit of 6-foot-3...Bell is 6-foot-0...and I think they excel at different facets of the game. Bell is going to be a devastating blitzer. I would be shocked if he ended up at safety...he is LB all the way in my eyes.

Me too. In Bell's film, he is a master of finding the perfect area's to penetrate and he is an excellent blitzer. He moves to well in traffic to put back at safety. He shed's blockers like no other LB in the country. He is a guy that I think gets 100+ tackles every year he starts. He just gets to the ball, wherever it is. Not to mention that I think we will have a sufficient amount of DB's in this class.

Film : Rivals

Explosive and violent. He does so many things well it's hard to really focus on one aspect of his game. First, he uses his flipper to shed blockers well. In fact, the blocker seems to be an after thought because Dorian sometimes just blows through them. He also exhibits excellent closing speed and takes great angles. He moves great in traffic and is a rocket off the edge when blitzing. As wad mentioned earlier, he runs through the ball carrier with an amazing explosion. I can't say enough how impressed I am with Dorian Bell...I really think he might be the best LB in the country, maybe even over Teo. Also, check his clips out at RB, it really shows what kind of athlete he is.

Is it just me or is his technique phenomenally good for a high schooler. He always seems to be so balanced and under control until he knows it's time to make a play. He definitely seems most comfortable blitzing and on one play even had the awareness to recognize he wasn't going to get there in time, back off the blitz, and stop the slot running a hot route right behind him.

Exceptional lateral movement, changes direction very well, and has explosive core strength. He will need to work hard on using his hands more and will definitely have some time on the shiver ball...he gets away with wrong-arming at the HS level but that is about to change

Re: Bell was recruited to play linebacker, but said there is a possibility he might play strong safety, depending on his weight.

If he is one of the team's 11 best defensive players you have to get him on the field somewhere.
