Bell excited about becoming a Buckeye

Gateway junior Dorian Bell didn't feel the need to wait any longer.
A trip to Ohio State University on Saturday and experiencing the pageantry of the Buckeyes' spring football game convinced him Columbus was the place for him.
Bell verbally committed to Ohio State on Monday and celebrated the decision in front of family and his Gator teammates and coaches.

"It felt like I never left home," said Bell said about the atmosphere at Ohio State. "The coaches, fans, everybody there, were great. It was a fun time. There was no one afraid to talk to me. It felt like a really big family."
More than 30,000 people turned out for Ohio State's spring football game.
"Even though it was raining, the fans really turned out for the game," Bell said.
"There were a lot of people tailgating. That atmosphere was everything a recruit could ask for."

Cont....

Bell officially will make his decision final on signing day in February. "Dorian's decision is 100 percent concrete," Smith said. "We'll try to keep the other teams away and focus our energy to the other kids looking to make a decision."

If you guys get a chance to go watch the AMP feature on Rivals from the PA camp...

Bell just kicks this guys tail off the ball, and gets right up in his face...the intensity looked like something you would see out there on Saturdays...Not something you see at a combine...

The video you speak of: AMP RIVALS

Dorian manhandles some kid thats pretty big, the kid gets mad, and Dorian doesn't back down. He looks really intense.

Haha, Dorian was clearly intimidated when the kid threw the bag and tried to stare him down after getting destroyed... nice attempt man.

? DTI INTERVIEW SPECIAL: Terry Smith Dotting The “I”: The Student Perspective on The Ohio State University Athletics

1. What are Dorian’s biggest strengths and what are areas can he improve upon?
”Dorian’s biggest strengths are his speed and athleticism. He needs to continue to get stronger, faster and commit to being a student of the game”.

2. Why was Ohio State the best fit for Dorian?
”Ohio State was best for Dorian because first and foremost Jim Tressel. Secondly, Ohio State is a University that prepares their players for the NFL, which is a goal of Dorian’s. Third, he wants to play for a winner/champion”.

This article was about a month ago from Athlon/Prep Star on Dorian Bell. I don't know if it was already posted, so I'll share it with you guys.

Recruiting Spotlight: Dorian Bell

by Braden Gall

Ohio State?s 2009 recruiting class will be hard pressed to equal that of 2008. They finished behind only Alabama in the Athlon Sports top-25 recruiting classes.
Jim Tressell and staff are doing their best, however. The Buckeyes' 2009 haul, so far at least, is once again in the top-5 nationally, along with other schools like Texas, LSU and USC. Georgia, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Florida State are nipping at their heels.
With nine potential AC100 members out of 11 total commits, the Bucks should again finish atop the Big Ten recruiting rankings. Storm Klein could play almost anywhere on the field. John Simon is aiming to lead his team back to the OSHAA state title game. Jordan Hall will fit perfectly in a zone-read scheme with former and future teammate Terrelle Pryor. Chris Fields is a more polished version of Ted Ginn Jr.
But the top rated player in this class, thus far, is Gateway High School's Dorian Bell. The Monroeville, Pa., linebacker is a tackling machine. Pittsburgh fans certainly know who Bell is. 2008 AC100 defensive end Shayne Hale ? and future Panther star ? played on the same defensive unit. Scouts say that Bell is further along at his age then Hale was when he was a junior.
Recruitniks know that is a very bold statement.
Bell holds roughly 40 offers and was expected to hold out longer on his decision. But after falling in love with OSU on a visit to Columbus, he surprised everyone by calling a press conference the very next day ? April 21st ? and picking the Buckeyes.
Like Hale, Bell is a tremendous closer. Once he reads the play, he gets to where he is going as fast as anyone in the nation. His speed, agility and raw athleticism are fantastic. His size, although only listed at 6'1" and 210 pounds, is more than adequate. In fact, he might be closer to 220 at this point. He also has a long, rangy frame that will allow for him to put on muscle.
His change-of-direction and lateral quickness give Bell the ability to play sideline to sideline. This makes it incredibly difficult to run outside on him. He is obviously great when on the attack not only just in the run game but also within blitz packages. He will be a force coming off the edge and up the gut on pass blitzes.
Bell is the complete player, though. He is far superior to Hale when it comes to pass coverage. His fluid hips and agility allow defensive coordinators to match him up in man-to-man situations if needed. His pass drops are technically sound and very solid.
As mentioned, Bell will need to add weight to his frame. Taking on 6'7" 300-pound Big Ten linemen will always be an issue. The only other area of concern is his recognition skills. They are not poor by any means, but could use some honing. Each come with time in a Division-I football program.
Very simply put, there are very few weaknesses in Bell's game.

I'd imagine the youtube video was already posted.

From that:

It kills me when I read "get over the hump," because I'm thinking, Geesh, we just won the title in 2002 and have won three other bowls, two in the BCS, and played for two more national titles since. What hump do we need to get over?

Then I realize that all the kids in these classes we're targeting now were in, like, the 6th and 7th grade in 2002 and probably don't remember that season so well, if at all. Several of them probably weren't even interested in football yet, or at least hadn't played in any sort of organized game. The kids that are part of the incoming class for 08 were about 12 years old when we won the title.

Time flies.

I'm getting old. :(

/end trip down memory lane.

I just love that "getting over the hump" for Buckeyes means winning the NC. There is no second place with these guys. It's all or nothing, and a New Years Day bowl game is not going to make them happy. I remember one 9-3 season after another with the hopes for a decent bowl game. Now, the bar has been raised significantly.

And just think, the team a few hundred miles north would probably be happy keeping their bowl streak alive this year and next. It's a great time to be a Buckeye.

I'm convinced from watching that video and the other highlight films that Dorian Bell runs on gasoline. I doubt he's fuel efficient, but you don't have to tell that to all the hapless fools he's going to run over while at Ohio State
