LB David "Boom" Perkins (transfer to Illinois State)

I am very glad to hear that David Perkins crossed LSU off the list and I am am excited that he might be a buckeye. At minimum, he will make an immediate contribution on special teams, and there are going to be a lot of kickoffs next year!

It is difficult to decipher what tOSU is thinking about middle linebacker? Apparently Shazier is the man for next year, but what if he goes down? I guess his backup would be Maxwell?

Does anyone see Perkins playing MLB?

I think his speed would be best utilized at OLB. Klein and Grant at MLB IMHO.

Or Williams (assuming he ends up here). Ideally, I think the future at the LB spot looks like (no particular order):

OLB: Perry/Williams/Crowell
MLB: Grant, Roberts
OLB: Shazier, Hagan/Perkins

I guess he was asking what his nickname should be, since we already had a "Boom". Then I thought, it would be cool if he kept Boom and everytime he made a tackle, everyone in the shoe yelled "Booooommmmmm".

Our current "Boom" will be gone when Boom II starts practice, so he's good.

ESPN - Perkins nearly commits on visit

1/16

Four-star athlete David Perkins (South Bend, Ind./Washington) has not named a leader since decommitting from Notre Dame in October. He jokes his leaderboard changes more than the weather.

It finally looks as if a program has swept Perkins off his feet, though.

Perkins, ranked third in the state of Indiana, officially visited Ohio State this weekend, and Perkins had to fight off the urge to commit.
