Curtis Grant Hermitage, 6-3/222, LB
Grant is ranked as one of the nation's top 10 prospects and is the nation's No. 1 inside linebacker. However, he was banged up a few times this summer during evaluations at the FBU Top Gun Camp and the Gridiron Kings event in Orlando. Is he 100 percent again and how dominant will he be in a grudge game for his team? Will he be too hyped up to be as effective as usual?
Hokies try to hang in
The Hokies' class is full of three-star guys right now. What are their chances they land linebackers Curtis Grant and Travis Hughes, as well as defensive back Demetrious Nicholson and athlete Dominique Terrell, who are the top four remaining uncommitted prospects in Virginia? Who might they land from out of state?
- Curtis from Virginia Beach, Va.
The chances for Grant are at an all-time low and barring some serious change of heart he's likely headed to the SEC. But he essentially eliminated the Hokies long ago so it's not a big surprise. Hughes seems far less certain as he and his father are high on the Hokies. North Carolina is the leader as he has stated this week, but that could change if the hammer drops there. With Nicholson, I expect that to be a battle to the end between the Hokies and Cavaliers, while Terrell appears to be between West Virginia and Virginia Tech. Of those, I think the best shot is Hughes and Terrell. There aren't many other prospects on the board at this time out of state.
Marquise Williams seems to be opening up considerably after committing to North Carolina in the summer and the Hokies are after Stephone Anthony and trail Florida.

Rivals.com Football Recruiting
Richmond (Va.) Hermitage linebacker Curtis Grant may be only a senior in high school, but the 6-foot-3, 222-pounder has been playing football for as long as he can remember. On Tuesday morning at his school, Grant received one of the highest honors he's ever received for his efforts on the gridiron as he received his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey. Grant, ranked as one of the nation's top 10 prospects overall, was honored to be amongst the select few to receive such recognition.
"This is the game I wanted to play in," said Grant of the Army Bowl. "I first saw it a couple of years ago when Tajh Boyd had such a big game and I know Morgan Moses from Meadowbrook here in Richmond played in it as well because we play them every year. When I was watching the game I was hoping if I worked hard and just focused on what I needed to do I would maybe have a chance to play in the game as well. It worked out well."

"I'd say I'm interested in visiting Florida, Ohio State and North Carolina for sure," he said. "After that it's Michigan, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU and maybe even Virginia. Originally I wanted to get out of state but I like Mike London a lot at Virginia. I've told them I'm not really interested but that hasn't stopped them from recruiting me and they keep creeping back into my thoughts. I'll figure everything out after the season but I know I won't be ready to decide until January or Signing Day because I'll be taking my visits so late."

Hermitage senior linebacker Curtis Grant has been selected to play in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"It means a lot," Grant said. "It shows that I worked hard throughout the years in my life to get to this level and to go to the next level."
Each year, the U.S. Army selects 90 football players from across the nation to compete in the All-American Bowl. The game will be held Jan. 8, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.
The only other player from Virginia selected to participate is Landon Turner, a Harrisonburg offensive tackle who has committed to North Carolina. Grant is currently uncommitted, but has 27 offers, including Florida, Alabama, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
Alumni of the All-American Bowl include Tim Tebow, Adrian Peterson, Morgan Moses of Meadowbrook and Quinton Spain of Petersburg.
Grant has taken one trip since the season started, to U.Va. He reportedly told the Virginia coaching staff he isn't currently interested in becoming a Cavalier.

B.J. Clark caught two of Riddick's TD passes, including one of 54 yards. Curtis Grant, who had six tackles and a sack on defense, was on the receiving end of the third.
Richmond (Va.) Hermitage linebacker Curtis Grant has secretly been headed out of the state of Virginia since almost the beginning of the recruiting process despite many observers and sources saying he was a Virginia Tech lock as early as his sophomore season. While Grant still seems to be favoring leaving the state, there is a team that could keep him at home - and it's not the Hokies.
Grant currently favors Florida and Ohio State over North Carolina, Alabama and some others but keep an eye on Virginia as a darkhorse here. I'm not saying he will end up as a Cavalier. In fact there's probably only a 5-10 percent chance he'll stick and stay with the Cavs, but head coach Mike London has done a great job recruiting Grant and the 6-3, 222-pound linebacker keeps wavering on the status of Virginia.
Grant took an unofficial visit to Virginia a few weeks back to tell London in person that he was eliminating the Cavaliers and leaving the state. But London hasn't given up.
Official visits to Florida, Ohio State and UNC seem certain while Alabama is fading a bit with its current haul at linebacker. LSU is coming on a bit and Georgia, Michigan and Clemson are in the mix as well. Grant wants to take all five official visits before deciding and UVA won't get one of them, but if he doesn't fall in love away from home, there's always the slim chance he stays in state and lines up for London.
