Of course the State Penn fans love JL stealing their award! :tongue2:
What a bunch of losers they have become!
They were once a classy bunch(Marshcreek) but now they just have degenerated to trailer park trash! Sad to see, actually.

Well knowing how intelligent the majority the of the Penn State fans are, they will probably say something along the lines that Laurinaitis is overrated and he won't do crap in the NFL. But, reality will soon enough hit in for them when they realize Laurinaitis will be the better NFL player. Penn State fans still believe they are linebacker U, when we all know it should be Ohio State, just look at the NFL production of Ohio State players compared to that of Penn State. But, I should not insult the intelligence of a Penn State fan, after all Laurinaitis should not have won the Butkus Award.

Pennsylvania State University, official breeding ground for:
-Old coaches that don't want to admit that it is time to go
-Assistant coaches who are really head coaches
-Mediocre applications of high level talent

The Ohio State University Football Program, official NFL breeding ground for:
-Linebackers
-Cornerbacks
-Wide Receivers
-Any other position you feel like mentioning

And State Penn fans wonder why we beat them so much, and why we come into their state and recruit a lot of their best players.

'Grats to James!

Laurinaitis on Football Writers Association of America 2007 All-America Team

DALLAS (FWAA) ? The Football Writers Association of America's 64th All-America Team was announced on Saturday afternoon and shown on ABC television.

The FWAA Team, the second longest continuously published team in college football, has been a staple of the college football scene since 1944. And for the fourth straight season, the unveiling of the team has been shown on television. This year's sponsor was AT&T.

The 25-man team is one of the youngest, if not the youngest in history, with 15 underclassmen, including three redshirt freshmen and two sophomores, along with 10 juniors and 10 seniors. The Big 12 (seven selections) and Southeastern (six) conferences dominated the team. No other conference had more than three selections.

Included on the team is LSU's standout senior defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, who became the first player in history to sweep the Outland Trophy (best interior lineman), Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Best Defensive Player) and Lombardi Trophy (best lineman) awards.

Four schools ? Arkansas, Kansas, LSU and Missouri ? have two players each on the team. There are three repeat All-Americas on the team from 2006: Ohio State junior linebacker James Laurinaitis, Michigan senior offensive tackle Jake Long and Arkansas' junior running back Darren McFadden.

OSU linebacker James Laurinaitis wins Butkus Award

Saturday, December 08, 2007 Doug Lesmerises

Plain Dealer Reporter

James Laurinaitis thought he was going to get shut out. Instead, he went to bed with a new friend Friday, the trophy that goes to the Butkus Award winner.
"I am going to cuddle with that thing," the Ohio State junior said by phone shortly after being named the nation's best linebacker at a ceremony in Orlando. Laurinaitis was one of three finalists for the award, joining Penn State's Dan Connor and Colorado's Jordon Dizon.
Exhausted after a week on the awards circuit, Laurinaitis had a flight back to Columbus at 7:15 this morning and hoped to throw on his pads and make the second half of practice. Then he's off again for his fifth and final award banquet in Newport Beach, Calif., where he'll be one of four finalists for the Lott Trophy on Sunday night.

Buckeyes' Laurinaitis removes tuxedo, puts pads on again

By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS - James Laurinaitis spent more time in a tuxedo last week than he did in shoulder pads. A college football postseason awards tour took the highly-decorated Ohio State linebacker to North Carolina, Florida, Texas and California. Some 7,000 air miles later, Laurinaitis finds his way back and starts concentrating on the No. 1 Buckeyes' preparations for their Jan. 7 meeting in New Orleans with No. 2 Louisiana State in the Bowl Championship Series national title game. On his whirlwind trip, the 6-3, 245-pound junior from Minnesota won the Butkus Award, which goes to the top linebacker in the college game. Andy Katzenmoyer (1997) is the only other Buckeye to win the Butkus. Chris Spielman (1986-87) and A.J. Hawk (2005) were the only other Ohio State finalists for the prestigious honor. "I think I was the most surprised guy in the room," Laurinaitis said after receiving the award at the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando. "It's really overwhelming."

"When the host asked me what my favorite Ohio State football traditions were, I had a lot of fun staring over at Jake Long while telling about the tradition of gold pants," Laurinaitis said about the Michigan offensive lineman who was also a finalist for the Lombardi.
