LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

James just said on his radio show how much he likes Dabo Swinney. Thinks he's a great guy. I had to turn off the radio.

I like James and I enjoy his X's and O's analysis and his stories from his playing days. But Dabo? Seriously? The guy's a sleaze who had three players busted for PED use before the playoff.

The strange thing is that, while Bobby Carpenter sounds more like a meathead and James sounds more articulate, the opposite is true. Bobby is actually pretty smart while Janes is kind of clueless outside of the meat and potatoes of football. It sucks because generally he's okay and then he'll say something that's just incredibly stupid.

JAMES LAURINAITIS, LINEBACKER
James Laurinaitis was a fan favorite in Columbus and put together an unbelievable collegiate career, earning consensus first-team All American honors three years in a row.

Those accolades didn't translate into the assumption that he could dominate similarly in the NFL. Laurinaitis slipped out of the first round and was taken by St. Louis at No. 35 overall.

He went on to have a terrific pro career, playing seven of his eight seasons with the Rams. In each of those seven seasons he eclipsed 100 tackles and finished his career with 869 total tackles and 10 interceptions.

I've updated the thread title, since to my knowledge, James was the first college football player to win national awards in 3 different seasons, so they all should show.

Tebow reached that accomplishment one season after Laurinaitis, by winning the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in 2009. The inaugural football player to receive that award was James Laurinaitis in 2008, but there's only so much room in the thread title!

Mike Doss is the newest former Ohio State football player to be nominated for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Doss joins fellow Buckeye greats James Laurinaitis, who is in his second year on the ballot, and Chris Ward, who is in his fourth, as one of three nominees from Ohio State for the College Football Hall of Fame's class of 2021.

Each school is allowed a maximum of three nominees, who also must have received first-team All-American honors during his career, must be at least 10 years removed from his collegiate career and no longer playing professionally and must have played college football within the last 50 years to be eligible for Hall of Fame induction.

A spot opened up on the Hall of Fame ballot this year for Doss, who was a three-time first-team All-American safety for the Buckeyes, after former Ohio State running back Keith Byars – in his sixth year on the ballot – was selected in March as the 26th Buckeye to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Just so sad. Seriously, was there ever a Buckeye parent that had a bigger presence in the stands?? Admittedly im a huge wrestling fan and i LOVED the Road Warriors growing up so when i met Joe "The Animal" Laurinaitis coming out of the bathroom at the Shoe during a game in 07 I was so pumped if not a little intimidated but he was so cool to talk to. To this day the spiked shoulder pads are seen at games.. James and Joe are forever etched in Buckeye culture. RIP legend. #WhatARush
