LB Bobby Carpenter (All B1G, National Champion)

I couldn't even go to walk though practices without taping my ankles. :p
I did, however, let the hot girl student trainers tape my ankles for lesser practices. I only let the head trainer tape me up if we were full go. It's strangely arousing having a hot chick jamming her boobs into your foot while she tapes your ankles. I think I said too much.

I think you said too little.

It was my concern during the final TX drive that the receiver coming out into the flat was wide open. Then I saw a shot of Carp motoring mightily to get out there (plus there was no help much from the corner or safety) and I wondered at the time whether Carp was slowed by his ankle. Hard to tell, but he gave 110% for the whole game and will get no criticism from me.
Go Bucks!

Just the comment not the rep. I hope you meant the first poster...NTD was defending the team. I deleted the material he quoted because it was a flame.

Nah, it was the gobucks123789 comment about Zwick. Thanks, though.

Thanks for the backup boys, I owe you one.

As far as ankles being taped, I never did it. It's pretty much a matter of preference. The reason I didn't do it was to prevent atrophy and encourage joint flexibility during play. Exhawg must have been one of those fast guys, I was just a DL.

I'd still take injured Carp over 95% of collegiate LBs, and he STILL had a great game.

From the O-Zone (Tuesday practice)....

No special jersey, no braces, looks like he's healthy. O'Connell (SDSU QB) couldn't get so lucky...

And no friggin' tape on his ankles!! C'mon Bobby, take care of yourself. We need you healthy for the whole season.
:osu:

i wear tape on my wrists, but not my ankles, sometimes if i jam my one of my fingers i'll wrap some tape around them

personally i don't really like tape on me, it restricts movement on not only my ankles but also my wrists, the only reason i wear it on my wrist is because our head coach gives us wrist plays to all of the players, even lineman, even with that i don't let the trainer do it because i don't like it tight and the trainer wraps them tight, i let a coach do it one time on my right wrist for a JV game and 5 min.'s into the bus ride i realized my hand was turning blue, so now i do it myself and wrap it loose, if it wasn't for the wrist plays i wouldn't even tape my wrist

I'm from the old school. You never went out without your ankles taped. Dad was a HS coach. His kids ran gassers if he ever caught them on the practice field without their ankles tape.

Come to think of it, it's not really so old school. All the linemen wear knee braces these days. You don't think they restrict movement? Still there's a good reason they all wear them.

most of our kids wear ankle braces, does about the same thing, plus in the long run it is a lot cheaper than buying tape(i know tape ain't that costly, but it is also faster to slip a brace on and tie it up than to sit there and and get taped, plus we don't have a trainer everyday at practice, he is the trainer at about 5 or so different schools for all of the sports, he's only at our school about once or twice a week, and our players have to just about beg a coach to tape them up,the only players that get taped at practices are players that have either a ankle problem or ankle injury, most of them just wear braces, some players get both tape and braces on their ankles

My heart goes out to Bobby today. On the first defense play of the game, he hurt his ankle while going up against Jake Long. He came back out of the lockerroom on crutches, and was visibly crying his eyes out, but he still kept being a leader...

This one was for you Bobby, you deserved more for your last Big 10 game, but this win was for you...

Guys, just know this, Bobby has playing with a bigger injury than was made public. It was not Rumor-Mill stuff as it did not need to be public knowledge, but it is the stuff that makes legends.

Carp wasn't concerned about his future in the NFL, pain, or anything...just the team. He was advised to sit and refused.

After the season is over, maybe some more info will be revealed about the extent of his injuries this season, but give a toast to a true Buckeye tonight.

21, do you know the extent of his injury today?? Is there any chance he'll be able to play the bowl game??
