Seriously, though... glad she's OK. It's the citation that did it, obviously. I know for a fact some Plaintiff firms employ people to look over the police reports for accidents. I suspect chiropractors do too, and so on. Personally, I am opposed to soliciting business in such a manner. If you need counsel, you'll call. If you're hurt, you'll call. Nothing I can do about it.
it's the freedom of information act... police citations and reports are info in the public domain. i got a speeding ticket a couple of weeks ago on my way into NYC (well actually two inside ten minutes, but that's a different story...) and i've received two or three letters a day from lawyers basically telling me that they can help me get out of paying the fines (a couple hundred bucks). at first it was like, "man... i've been exposed!"
