So the esteemed Mrs. Katt was involved in a minor accident last Thursday, with the other driver being cited for causing said accident. 100% clear who was at fault. No injuries to either party, but some damage to both vehicles.

My wife received 17 phone calls at work yesterday offering legal an/or medical services to her. Seventeen. One chiropractor's office was offering a free consultation AND a $100 gift basket if she were to come in for an examination. Several of them mentioned to her that they wanted to make sure she got what she was "entitled" to. Glad to report that she told them all off.

Ridiculous. These scum-sucking bastards will do anything to get a case. And people wonder why insurance rates are so high and the legal system is so bogged down.

Unbelievable. :pissed:

I think this begs the question..........how did they get her work number? Did her insurance company "rat" her out? Or was it information included in the police report that was accessible as "public information?"

i feel for you, really...

anywho... i just realized that it takes your pancake-laden bunny two westward hops to get across the screen but only one eastward hop to get back next to your screen name. that's pretty freaky!!!

now i can't take my eye off him thinking he's going to rectify the blatant incongruity of the situation. in fact, so much so that my neck's starting to kink up and hurt.

did you save any of the numbers of those people who called your wife? :p

Oops. That was a shade unclear on my part. They called her cell phone while she was at work. I'm certain the police report is where they got it.

I'm certain the numbers are still in her cell phone. :sneaky:

I called her 17 times because I'm sure I left my underwear in your closet.

Seriously, though... glad she's OK. It's the citation that did it, obviously. I know for a fact some Plaintiff firms employ people to look over the police reports for accidents. I suspect chiropractors do too, and so on. Personally, I am opposed to soliciting business in such a manner. If you need counsel, you'll call. If you're hurt, you'll call. Nothing I can do about it.

Strikes me as a particularly scummy way of drumming up business.

I work for an insurance company, and can honestly tell you that BKB is right. Lawyers and Chiro's both pay "runners" to get the police report from every single accident from police stations and sheriff's offices. It makes me sick. Insurance companies cannot, by law, release any private or personal information regarding their customers. What really bothers me, though, is when I get a copy of a police report that has the personal information (including social security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers) of minor children that were involved in accidents. Many police departments will black that stuff out, but not all.

I'm in charge of fraud detection, investigation, and prosecution for my company, and I cannot tell you how many people try to pull some scam or other. Add in the ambulance chasers and so-called "medical providers", and I don't have a chance of catching everybody. But that's ok, because I don't get paid, unless you get paid.

And I've been gone too long to know how to post the you tube stuff, but if somebody can do that with [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=zhvMWqGB6Qg&feature=related"]this[/ame], it is funny as hell.
