Robert Downey Sr., the filmmaker known for classics such as "Putney Swope" and "Greaser’s Palace," as well as being the father of actor Robert Downey Jr., died at age 85 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Downey Jr. confirmed the news of his father’s death in an Instagram post on Wednesday that accompanied a black-and-white photo of the late star.
"RIP Bob D. Sr. 1936-2021," the "Iron Man" actor wrote. "Last night, dad passed peacefully in his sleep after years of enduring the ravages of Parkinson’s ..he was a true maverick filmmaker, and remained remarkably optimistic throughout."

I'm putting this here to honor the victim of a terrible tragedy. She was a great human, and a customer of mine in the jewelry trade. I suppose if the NYT writes about your death, then you are famous enough for the thread.

Was just coming to post about 'Mr. Ronco". Say what you will, but the guy invented most of the stuff he sold, pretty much created the concept of the "infomercial" and made a fortune doing it.
