We moved to NH just in time to catch most of the 86 Celtics. He and Bird trying to out-pass each other was something I'll never forget. He was also one of my favorite announcers, RIP.
In the 90's the was a Pac-10 network that he called games for, it was very small time. I remember watching a game against UCLA and ASU where ASU had gotten behind big and was attempting a comeback. After they cut the lead to single digits UCLA went on another run and Bill said "ASU has shot their load".

I watched a few terrible games because Walton was on the broadcast. It was the parallels between beautiful basketball and Bob Weir that made me laugh.

I only comment on his announcing career here (if he had been more healthy I think it would have been really up there, and very bright spots as it is). But maybe it was my perception as he came away a Celtic or just a real evolution but I really did enjoy him embracing his inner west Coast stoner boomer hippie. Very fun and he will be missed.

BTW as custom as that bike obviously is it still looks a bit too small for him. Geometry is for someone 6'7" maybe
Shrinkage as he got older...(can relate lol)? He used to ride to games at the old Memorial Coliseum. Only shot I could find (seems sized right. This, or a similar bike, was stolen why he was playing pick up). And it is a fixie (maybe...hard to see the hub)!

Both of Walton's ankles were so shot and painful he had them fused. Recovery took a year. Eventually the next bones to the fusion break down and he needed more fusion. Another year. His ankles had zero flexibility once the fusions happened but the pain stopped. RIP

He may also just have been used to riding very upright. It's the top tube that is obviously not long enough (not so much that head tube that you would usually look at, but they are proportionate to each other) and his wing span clearly is a factor.
